because the people who suddenly became powerful during the first step of social equality (legal equality) by killing all the aristocrats suddenly thought maybe its better to just keep things they way they are instead of completing social equalitys second requirement (production equality), and so like the aristocrats, will have to themselves be killed. They dont want ot be killed, but they also want to continue being exploitative, and so their only recourse is to try and use moral idealism to construct a narrative where they are the good guys.

I suspect you actually meant the term to apply to that subgroup of people running the charities as opposed to the much larger group of people who participate in charitable causes (which includes volunteer groups and Peace Corps). Many people volunteer out of guilt, so that is not truly egalitarian even though they are working towards an egalitarian end result. Egalitarian is also a state of mind of the person performing the deed and not simply defined by the deed itself.
If you were referring to the leadership, some of those people are simply trying to buy a stairway to Heaven using other people's (taxpayers) money. By causing social welfare deeds to be performed, they feel self fulfillment towards a higher state of being. It's unfortunate they they force others to pay for it.
