We need to start by banning and confiscating all assault rifles. Those who refuse should then be jailed until they are cured of that notion. Australia and the UK did this and they are doing so much better now. We MUST do the same.
The news is calling it an assault rifle, so there's that.

Excellent question OP! The second amendment exists particularly to give citizens a means to properly execute their revolutionary right if the time and situation ever arise. This means that the weaponry allowed to the people should largely be similar in effectivness to the weaponry of the armed forces whom would be resisted in such circumstances. Taking the term assualt rifle to mean any semi automatic weapon system such as the AR15 it can be seen that restriction of such weapons would put the citizens at an unfair disadvantage to properly defend themselves and is therefore unconstitutional.
