how do i deal with bad acne?
How do i deal with bad acne?
better diet and exercise
What's your diet like?
I had tried everything and suddenly I stopped having so much sugar and it's cleared up so much. Also, adding a tea tree oil serum to my nightly skincare routine has really helped. I've noticed my normal breakout spots have cleared up after using for about 2 weeks now. My skin type is oily/combination
Change your diet, drink a gallon of water a day.
No fried food
No soda
No dairy
No refined suger
Olive oil is the only oil you may use
Focus on plant based foods with grains and loads of fresh fruits.
Hormone changes plus a shit diet equal breakouts.
The other anons talking about diet have good points, but there are also some hygiene tricks that helped me.
1. Switch to an all natural soap. Your typical supermarket soap isn't the best for your skin and can make zits worse.
2. shower at least 4 times a week, and end the showers with a blast of cold. The hot water opens up your pores which is good for cleaning but bad after. A minuet under colder water helps with that.
3. Change your towel each time. Its basic but people forget.
4. Clean pillowcase every night. Even if its just a clean t-shirt, your face sheds a lot of oil and skin at night and there is no sense in rubbing it all back on.
5. Give it time. You won't fix everything in 2 days. A week at the least before you see any improvements.
Don’t rest your hands on your face. It goes away in time. Mine didn’t until I hit 28/29 years old.
i already do all the diet stuff you mentioned except no dairy and only olive oil; i eat a lot of cheese and drink a lot of milk
easier said than done
I did all the diet, creams, oils, changing pillowcase every night bullshit and none of it worked. What worked was getting on birth control, my face is clear and spotless now.
Make sure it's not a hormonal problem OP.
The only thing that actually worked for me was going to a dermatologist and getting epiduo.
Cleared up my acne overnight.
I bought some grey market Accutane (isotretinoin). I also wash, benzoyl peroxide every day, glycolic acid every three days, and moisturize properly.
i'm a male so i somewhat doubt birth control will help me
i went to a dermatologist like a year ago and the motherfucker just looked at my face for like five minutes and was like, "Mmyep, that's acne, alright."
dude didn't do shit
RetinA to improve skin cell turnover rate (shitloads of dermatologists use this just for the cosmetic benefit) use before you sleep
Benzol peroxide to kill stuff, lower % is usually enough, there's little benefit in 10%
Clindamycin phosphate - cus I was also prescribed this
Maybe try removing dairy from your diet, although there's been no clinical evidence of any correlation
Accutane if it's incredibly serious/persistent this should be your last option
Recently I’ve just been washing my face with cold water every night and it seems to do more than anything else I’ve tried. In the past, I’d go from not washing my face every night and getting acne, to washing my face every night with cleansers and serums and moisturizers and all of that and irritating the hell out of my skin, going back to not washing my face regularly at all, and repeat. Everything seems to make it worse, and I don’t know why I didn’t just try water sooner.
Go to doctor. Tell them your acne is causing you social anxiety and is severely limiting your life. Then they´ll put you on isotretinoin. Boom, no more acne (after 6 months of bad side effects, but totally worth it)
Diet did shit all for me. Lived on vegetables and water for years. Had no impact on the acne what so ever.
what are the side effects?
It makes you suicidal. Also causes severe birth defects if you get pregnant while on it.
Eliminate carbs and sugar
If you're still a teen you'll eventually grow out of it. Have you tried keeping your pillow cases clean or putting a clean towel over them?
im already suicidal, does it double or cancel each other ?
benzoyl peroxide 5%. acne.org has the best one imo
cut out all drinks except for water and drink a lot of it.
wash your pillowcase. if you sleep on your side, try not to make your face touch, this is super important if you're the kind of person that doesn't wash things regularly.
never touch your face with your bare hands. if you have an itch use a tissue.
figure out your skin type, do you have oily skin, dry skin prone to flakes?
get yourself a good non comedogenic face wash for your skin type. cetaphil is a great brand and has something for everyone.
wash your face once in the morning, and once before bed
use tissue to dry your face instead of a towel. i know people recommend washing your face towel frequently, but that shit's a hassle and anything moist that's exposed to the air will accumulate germs and debris even if you wash it often
i was a pizza face for 5 years starting from around 12 year old to 17. it took 3 months of doing all these things and being consistent, for my face to completely clear up
PEMDAS, so it cancels out
