So what's the real story here?

I've got the official line: they shouted racial slurs and "threatened birthday party revelers with a shotgun". Already, this makes a 13-year prison sentence ridiculous. Did not fire the weapon. Did not injure anyone. Did not attempt to harm anyone. Did not demand property be handed over.

But even then, I'm not buying it. What I'm gathering here, is that they were given these severe sentences because they wouldn't plea bargain, that they plead not guilty and denied making threats. Which they wouldn't do if there was evidence. Everyone has cellphones these days. The first thing that would happen is that the phones come out, someone starts recording.

What they're accused of is pulling up to a child's birthday party, and entirely unprovoked, aimed weapons at the children and yelled that they were going to kill them all. Then they proceeded to... not shoot anyone, and drive away.

What I suspect happened is that they rode around with their flags only responding to the abuse and threats that they received as they did so, and offended blacks decided to make up the most severe false accusations that they could. I've noticed that the news coverage doesn't talk about evidence, and it doesn't talk about accusations, it just says that they did it. If the evidence was strong and the accusations were reliable, they'd have reported on those. When there's a screw-job going on, they get vague about evidence and firmly assert the final conclusions they want you to believe.
