I don't know which version of the bible Jow Forums reads, but I remember reading even in Jesus's own words Christians are still second place to the Jews. I also felt (not read) while reading it that humanity was burdening Jesus down with selflessness, rather than just letting him have some selfish happiness for himself. Gods chosen people simply refers to those who have entered into his covenant. In the past the Israelites were indeed gods chosen people as they had entered into a covenant relationship with Jehovah. The jews of today have not entered into the covenant so you are correct that they would not be referred to as " gods chosen people " however you are incorrect to assume that Christians are " gods chosen people " as they too are not in a covenant relationship with God.

It's a double edged sword for sure, but has definitely gotten jews wealth and IQ. I think the world needs both selfishness and selflessness. Some believe though, the concept of happiness itself is inherently selfish, so should we all just be martyrs and suffer eternally? Whether an action leads to happiness doesn't even come into it. You do what is right and just even if it causes you suffering. The role of a man is not to seek earthly pleasures for their own sake. That path leads to degeneracy and decay.
Happiness is usually always utilitarian and selfish, being selfish often results in the greater good. Like if you built a road to bring poor people food, but in doing so destroyed a flower patch an old lady loved, 1 person suffers and 99 find happiness. There are more complicated example, the modern example is capitalism, and letting rich people live in mansions motivates them to create businesses which in turn help the poor. It's almost like the worlds poor were greedy and lazy and wanted Jesus to die for them, even though allowing him to become a king would have greatly benefited them. If sinners had pulled their own weight and not forced Jesus to sacrifice himself the universe could have been much happier place.
