Opposition will exist regardless. Let's say you're Agent Jones from Alphabet Agency. Your entire job is to stop the opposition from doing harm to the system.

You have two choices:

1. The opposition can all congregate in one location where you can very easily keep tabs on them, see what they're doing, thinking, perhaps even planning if they even organize at all, and you can even control them. You can feed them disinformation in subversive ways to undermine the possibility of organizing or taking words and turning them into action IRL. Sure you might not catch everything, and some people might come to that location and become indoctrinated, but at least it's happening somewhere that you know about and can monitor

2. The opposition has no well known and readily available place to congregate together. In this absence they don't simply stop thinking the way they do, but instead they start making contacts in other ways - in person, or over channels less easy to monitor and keep track of, certain more fractured and disparate so as to make your job that much more difficult. Sure, fewer people are likely attracted to it and brought into the fold, but you run a greater risk of having absolutely no idea what the opposition is up to, and you have no direct line to influence them.
