I am genuinely scared of war breaking out within the next two years, between China and the US
I am also scared that this war would be the last one.
I cannot be put into an army due to terminal injuries that stop me from doing fighting, but I just can't shake the feeling that the end lies so close ahead of us. And I'm terrified.

My American friends have used it as in "something that doesn't heal" when describing it and I assumed it was different from terminal illness.

If war breaks out between China and the US, which is a slim chance at best, the chance that it will be the end of the world is even slimmer. Why?
Because China could never, ever wage a nuclear war and come out on top. China's arsenal of nukes is in the lower hundreds. The US has literally thousands of nukes. Should China launch their entire arsenal, a large part of those nukes would unfortunately land in Japan, Korea and other nearby US allies. Another large part would be shot down by missile defense systems. A few would hit mainland US and destroy large portions of the cities, but compared to the absolute apocalypse the Chinese would go through it would be nothing.
However, it is a good idea to prep. Gathering canned food, water, self-sustaining systems and so on. Even if no nuclear war ever breaks out, these things are good to keep around.
I doubt this had made you any less terrified, but consider that it doesn't matter how scared you are. It's better to live your life than to worry about things you cannot change.

The only thing keeping the CCP in power is their incredible ability to drive massive economic growth. If they start a war with the US, especially a bad one, they'll destroy their own economy on the process.
Then the people will lose the one reason to not revolt against them, and the CCP will fall.

War? Not a chance, at most a proxy war. Why you should be afraid of is the Chinese invasion and spionage. China is very quickly and subtly taking influence in most governments and shaping them to their use. Why is this bad? As efficient as China might seem, the living conditions are worse thank you realize and the government's control over the people is a complete violation of freedom.
Think about it, China killed 11000 people on a historic square in their capital, and they got away with it. Imagine the EU acting like that, and eventually America too. Have you been noticing the higher rate of Chinese people around? Or of Chinese language learning courses and ads? What about the steady decline in freedom for the residents of Hong Kong?
That is what scares me, war simply isn't a good investment.

China exists as they do because they're being peaceful. The moment China stops, I struggle to think of countries that wouldn't want to fuck them up, if not out of sheer principle then because they want to fuck up the country that pollutes the shit out of the world, behind like, India alone.
China gets to be because it's allowed. They declare war and I'd say most of the first world would be happy to fuck them up beyond all compare. It would be an international event. History would remember China in the worst way possible and they might even just stop being a country after that and be divided up along their bordering countries.

Nuclear arms ensure that the superpowers can only engage in cold warfare and smaller proxy wars in developing countries. Why? Because the threat of mutually assured destruction, which is what total warfare would inevitably lead to. Also, global economic interdependence makes total warfare between superpowers equally unlikely. We need each other to suceed economically. Period. Everyone on all sides know this.
We live in the age of cold warfare, proxy wars, espionage, cyber war, terrorism, and civil wars. But, once again, total warfare between global superpowers is fucking obsolete as hell.

China is anything but peaceful. They are very aggressive and expansionist and want to conquer all of Asia. They are just doing it mostly in a non-military way. But they have blatantly illegally taken over the seas in the area already.
I mean, even hundreds of nukes is already enough to destroy civilization. Especially if, like I think, they would be allied with Russia.
