We're doing a program on danish radio P1 comparing the differences between what's often deemed to bethe main streets and alleyways of the internet. We want to know why you prefer being active here on Jow Forums compared to other sites. We also want to know how you were first introduced to this site, as well as some thoughts on how Jow Forums and your use of the site has developed.

I was first introducted in this site in 2008 I would say, I was 14. My friends explained me how it works and I was flabbergasted when I saw the creativity and the free speech allowed here. I was a little affraid by the creepy pictures of blue waffle and lemon cake at first, but then I loved the way anons were. As I'm french and was not particulary listening to english lessons, I coudn't post anything but I was able to understand somehow. So I read Jow Forums for 11 years and decided to post in early January 2019 because I was able to speak english (thanks to determination, not school). I prefer to post here because medias sites or social medias are not free speech places, and people over there do not understand trolls and jokes + do not understand how debates works. Here when you come on Jow Forums, you have a little sticky that explains what are fallacies and anons giving time to construct proper and interessing threads. The big plus is shitposting: I considere it as an art and an essential way to make people think harder. Since January 2019, I come here everyday. I don't know why 100%, it's an habit right know, but Jow Forums know how to make me laugh and think, and always find new ways to entertain or suprise me. In 2008, I came mostly for the meme and /b/, and even if I found what I came for, it happens offently that I stayed up late because I was translating pages and pages of threads just to understand what little anons were talking about. I think that Jow Forums is the greatest place on earth, and one day I wish I will become a great contributor and give back to the community which I taken from.

Different personality types react different to stimuli, on average people avoid conflict and look for consensus. The 10% of people that do not are the genuine "thought leaders", not necessarily because they right but rather because they are tempered by an environment like pol. This makes them "anti-fragile" and they do not fall prey to the common shaming tactics that work on the general populous, and are usually lambasted as political correctness.

I visit Jow Forums as an unbiased news source. They are first with the “happenings.” Even today, the news of the movements in Venezuela showed up here before they showed up in the mainstream media. Now of course there are lots of false “happenings,” so you have to think critically and verify what you read.
The first time I though of Jow Forums as a valuable news source was the attempted Turkish coup. The board was filled with information, various viewpoints and different theories of who was behind it and why.
Spend some time here, scroll past the posts that don’t interest you just like you quietly walk past 90% of the junk in the grocery.
