I’m not even that trad overall by the utter destruction of valuable Brazilian contributions to art in general is really underappreciated. The end of the monarchy paved the way to everything wrong in this country now, and the physical manifestation of that in architecture is the perfect representation of that loss.

The water flows underneath rather than through the building. I agree about the location. He found a pretty place in nature and rather that build near it so that it would be visible, he built on top of it to make the building itself pretty. The ceilings are quite low and Wright considered anyone above 5'10" to be a weed. When I visited, a friend referred to it as Falling Cantilevers, as they've sagged noticeably over time. Still, it's an attractive place.
