We're the last group that it's still okay to publicly oppress and ridicule. Because we're so few, and politically inert for the most part, we're ignored on both sides of the political spectrum. And this is pure ignorance. If one lives on a reservation, that one is faced with a life of poverty and no means to escape. There are little to no employment opportunities on reservations. Welfare including food and child benefits are no different than to other Americans, and using the same rules. So single, childless individuals receive next to nothing. Most tribes don't have "reservation benefits" of any sort. Some tribes have casinos that run a profit, and they share that profit with the tribe members. But those shares are not even to the level of the average minimum wage job per month. And we still pay our taxes like every other American.
If you are a tribal member that does not have a reservation like the biggest tribes in Oklahoma, you are like any other American. We pay the same taxes as you.

There were 5 civilized tribes that actually tried to take the states to court, some of those cases are still pending on SCOTUS.
