I've often thought of this myself. There are many reasons but I think genetics and environment play a huge part in this.
Europeans have evolved over 60,000+ years to live in this part of the world. It's cold and grey most of the year and you will struggle to feel content without the ability to turn small amounts of sunlight into Vitamin D and through nutrition from milk (70-90% of Africans are lactose intolerant compared to only 5-15% of Brits and 15% of Germans).
On top of that they now live in societies that are not constructed to their means of thinking or living. "Society" as we see it today is a European construction. From ancient democracies and monarchies we built societies in Europe today to reflect our ideals of living and thinking, they are a manifestation of our consciousness. When you take an African that developed for 60,000 years separately on the other side of the world in a different climate, his way of thinking and living will leave him constantly uneasy in our society.
