I used to watch YouTube all the time. Like easily an hour or two a day. It had all but replaced TV for me. Then nothing interesting came up in my feed all of the sudden. I would go through and click don't like don't like don't like on everything and more gay shit popped up in its place. Now I just go on there for an hour a week and catch up on my Ben Shapiro and Sean Hannity and the couple Q accounts I follow. I don't even donate through YouTube I just pay them through a different medium now. But someone has to support real news.

I'm not surprised. I know myself and a lot of other people would go on Youtube not necessarily for political content, but for videos that had 'edgy' humour or were just really out of the norm. The whole demonitizing thing and fucking around with the algorithms has made it hard for these sorts of channels to keep going, because despite not being directly political, they somehow float in the same spheres. As a result a lot of content creators have just given up. And now that I can't easily find the videos I like anymore, I've given up too.

I mean fuck, the most egregious example of the algorithm fuckery is to take a look at your recommended videos list on any video page. There'll be maybe 2 suggestions that are actually related to what you're watching, the rest is all just unrelated garbage. Watching Youtube used to be a fun adventure, finding all sorts of weird and wonderful shit, now it just keeps trying to channel you back to the same boring safe suggestions. It's frustrating and dull.

It's also a sure bet it runs on Google Cloud Platform so some of the overhead is absorbed there.
