Getting rich is a meme if you're not using it to buy land.
Just get out dude before it starts contracting
>before it starts contracting
What?
the economy
youtube.com
secure you and your kids' access to food with farmland
Buy stacks of lotto tickets.
I don't plan on having kids. I think investing in land is smart though. I also doubt there is an impending economic apocalypse.
>I also doubt there is an impending economic apocalypse.
The powers that be are artificially propping the system up and it's still stagnating hard, 2020 is going to be rough.
There's a pond with lilly pads in it. Every day, the number of lilly pads doubles. The pond filled up in 8 days, with 48 lilly pads in total. How many lilly pads were there on day 7?
Start a rocket company user. It's not that hard.
>lilly pads
Am I talking to Gollum or some shit?
I hear you can make a small fortune if you start with a large one.
Also, it won't really be an instant collapse like you think about happening in the movies, just a death spiral spanning several decades. As the death spiral goes down your belt gets progressively tighter, food and other necessary commodities get more and more expensive. The green new deal fails, successful oil shills don't even care if they fail because they have bunkers in New Zealand. Eventually the energy return on investment declines to the point that human and animal powered energy becomes an economically viable option. Then you're fucked. If food is unaffordable to half the population, the financial system is DOA and the lack of liquid fuels destroying globalisation has now well and truly come to your doorstep with on and off brownouts, why not just farm? The land can't support the amount of people the industrial revolution has allowed to exist. Modern agriculture has destroyed the topsoil and created strains of crop reliant on fertiliser and pesticides. Have you ever thought about what death by starvation must feel like?
I just hope the US government doesn't force us into a Neo-Kampuchean nightmare, because if it does I know I certainly won't be a party cadre.
Every generation has thinks they'll be the last. Everything will be fine. There will probably be another economic downturn soon but it won't be apocalyptic.
>There will probably be another economic downturn soon but it won't be apocalyptic
When the great depression happened the US government embarked on the greatest public works project in its history up until that point. Crises happen, downturns happen repeatedly, sure, but you need energy to get out of that slump. We don't have energy, we don't have oomf, momentum can only take us so far when the carpet is pulled out from under us. This experiment finishes at the wrong place, at the wrong time and with a laughable lack of investment in real alternatives. Maybe the ride down takes a human lifetime or more and you don't see the end of it, who am I to say, but it'll still be extremely painful and come in progressively more painful steps if it's that gradual. If your life is garbage now, now's the time to make it better, this is level 1.
Okay.
Think about the effort and resources required to shift the entire Earth's infrastructure to a new method of power generation not built around digging stored energy out of the ground, DURING the worst economic crisis in living memory, WITH diminishing means to do so and WITH shortages of the materials required to do it in some cases. What do you think the odds of climbing out of that pit look like?
By getting a job, I guess?
This. Buy lands.
Most RL lands have risen 300% over the past 5 years.
>get a job
I worked in a call center for 3 months and wanted to blow my brains out every day. I honestly find being a NEET preferable, even though it's nearly as miserable.
I should probably upskill so I can at least find employment that isn't pleb-teir, but I'm not sure what to pursue. Maybe I should study business, finance, and computer science in an effort to become an entrepreneur but most fail...
I have a Bachelor's degree with honours in philosophy so I'm not a complete brainlet... I could just go into academia... I don't know. Every option seems somewhat shitty.
Seriously, can someone offer some advice?
How about you fix your mentality first? You need a certain attitude to make money let alone be "rich". You need to do something other than expect a get rich quick scheme off Jow Forums.
You're not going to get rich you faggot. Even if you're extremely gifted it's extremely improbable.
Focus on making your life less shitty. Sorry, but unless you want to keep wallowing in misery you're going to have to find a job. You need to upskill like you say. Yes, it's difficult to know what to pursue. Yes, you need to stop being a faggot and actually decide on something.
Everything is contingent and uncertain and no one here can tell you which path to walk down, that's up to you. Good luck.
Okay, but how do I even decide on what to pursue? I have no idea how to live my life. I know no one can tell me how to live but still, how does one even begin to navigate through the shitstorm of decideding what to do with their life? There are so many options and so much ambiguity.
What elements of your life do you enjoy, look into the trades maybe become a construction worker, or a plumber, maybe an electrician. You could take a few classes at a community College in water zoning and laws and work at your local water district. There's a lot of options in the work that civilization relies upon to develop and grow consistently, and they pay fair
mmmm
That's an interesting perspective. Thanks. I can't help but think that becoming a construction worker, plumber, or electrician is pleb-teir though. I don't want to wagecuck my entire life in some blue collar job. Maybe I'm an elitist prick. Maybe a trade is the way to go. Or maybe my perspective means I feel academia is preferable, which is a helpful revelation.
Hmmm?
Look, I'll tell you the quickest, easiest way to being rich that nearly no one else is doing.
Find the lowest paying jobs (ie: Cleaner, mcdonalds, burger king), and do as many as you can at a time (2 jobs most people can do, but if you can somehow pull off a 3rd, do that as well).
As soon as you start earning, decide on a budget and stick to it. This is probably the most important thing.
Start a online business on the side as well, since most businesses dont get off the ground without at least 3 years of consistent high quality effort.
also to add to this, ignore all the gary v, tai lopez, etc marketing gurus.
Just get a basic understanding of what a business is and how it operates, then create one. The product that you sell doesn't matter, the only thing that does matter is that you a) try new things and be ok with failure {because you will fail} and b) get up quickly again after each failure you do.
>work yourself to death in multiple shit-tier jobs and start some shitty online business doing fuck knows what
t-thanks
>get up quickly again after each failure you do.
How the hell do you do that?
>Save for years to to have the money to start a business
>Fail
>Had to stuck in loan, spending years to pay for it + spend more years to save more money to start another business
Seems like there's pretty much only ONE chance unless you have a rich parents.
or continue to eat the bullshit "follow your passion" advice.
Welcome to real life kid, where a select few succeed with hardly any effort (geniuses), whilst the road to success for the majority is hard work.
The cold hard truth isn't sexy.
You are lucky I even gave it to you.
Mabye next time I'll tell you what you want to hear.
"Follow your passion"
"Write on a vision board"
"Follow these 5 steps and become a millionaire"
Yeah, lies are what faggots like you prefer to hear. The marketers know this and feed them to you en masse.
I'm fully prepared to be pragmatic you tard. Your advice just sucks.
I wanted to quit my job and start a business.
Fortunately I stopped drinking the online marketing kool-aid advice recommending that you quit your job to work full time on business.
With a business you take a HUGE amount of responsibility, and the payoff is not even guaranteed.
My plan is to get another mediocre job, while i study for a 200k plus job and do a business on the side.
It sounds hard, but when I got a reality check as to when any business will start pulling in consistent profits, I think its much better this way.
Suck dick for cash and invest everything in bitcoin. You're welcome.
You're fucked. Give up.
24?
That's fucking rich some 30 year old neet being too good for an honest job. Ever heard of "it takes money to make money"? Well I'll tell you what princess it's not gonna magically come out of your ass.
Read Rich Dad and poor dad, its not a great book like normalfags praise it but still good enough to change your faggot mentality
Honest jobs fucking suck and you know it. You wouldn't be upset if this weren't true. You can get angel investors if you actually have a decent business idea. You don't have to become a construction worker to make money.
Yeah, I've read it already. It's not bad and there is truth to it. It's pretty inane to say work for yourself, start your own business, and employ people to work for you instead of wagecucking however, which is essentially the main point of the book.
>implying I work those type of jobs
I'm not upset and I wouldn't be on Jow Forums at 10 am if I had a normal job. I'm just knocking some 30 year old NEET down a couple notches.
Okay, seeing as you think I deserve to be knocked down a couple notches kindly enlighten us as to what you're doing with your life you massive ass sandwich.
90% of people on Jow Forums are Neets larping , stop asking for advice here. Go get a job on an oil rig or something and work like a slave for a few years and make like 200k
Not mooching off mommy and daddy or the government that's for sure.
Fuck the government. I'll gladly take them for what their worth.
They're*
Thanks for the actual advice. Did you do this or are you larping too?
So what's the deal with you then are you a scammer or actually mentally disabled?
If you genuinely share where you're at I'll explain my situation also.
Ok I can't hide it anymore user...I'm also a 30 year old neet...nah jk, but I'm nowhere near rich enough to help you. I'm just wage slaving it somewhere tolerable while I save money and also invest in what I can. Is it ideal? well no, but it's a lot better than sitting at home hopelessly.
No i live in the UK its my dream though, if you are in yankland you don't need any qualifications. If you are not a mongoloid you could probably get promoted and make even more. Its like $90000 a year of thd bat
Okay, so kindly get off your high horse. You're probably right that you're life is less shitty than mine though. I tend to get so miserable when I work an "honest job" that I literally want to kill myself. This suicidal ideation affords me the luxury of a depression diagnosis so
I don't have to work. The neet bucks are so measly that it's barely a worthwhile existence at all, hence my desire for something more and my aversion to wage slavery. I think I'll just go back to university. Acquiring knowledge is valuable at least.
Acquire knowledge online, silly
Land is the surest investment. You can’t duplicate land
Oh relax I could've trolled you a lot harder. Listen a job like construction or whatever isn't "pleb-tier" it just isn't for you. I know plenty that make $30+ an hour and enjoy it. I was an on and off neet between 18-21 years old and had a similar thought process to you, but I had nobody to help me financially so I was forced to do something about it.
>muh bootstraps
kek
Oh jesus a fucking namefag
The structure of actual classes is preferable in that it keeps me motivated. I also want to end up with a PhD eventually so I can at least teach and perhaps be taken seriously by the media.
Get a different job
>I could've trolled you a lot harder
You say that like trolling is a virtue
Props on reducing animal suffering and environmental damage bruv.
Keep applying to jobs dude, you'll eventually find something good. If you end up in a job that seems shit, give it 1-3 months before you quit, then rinse and repeat. It's all good.
I've had a number of jobs and they've all been shitty. I think it's my low tolerance for being in close proximity to other people. I'll continue the search however.

Not so fast, population problems.
