As a Protestant/Baptist, I struggled with stuff like this for a long time. I believe it stems from churches rejecting tradition because of muh feelz, rather than an honest interpretation of Scripture and the early Church.
After attending an Orthodox church and talking with various men and clergy for weeks, it all started to make sense. The entire Protestant ideology hinges on the rejection of the early Church while hypocritically accepting the very book that was composed by the early Church and to this day is accepted - Protestants however disregard that this book was not handed by an angel to the apostle Peter, but compiled (OT) of Hebrew historical records and (NT) largely of autobiographies and mere correspondence between the early church leaders - much of which is them correcting each other rather than saying that they are infallible.
The Orthodox Church, by contrast, remains unchanged in ideology for thousands of years. Many critics say that it has changed, but neglect to see that these changes are largely in how it operates in relation to national and global politics and not any change in fundamental doctrine. They have never declared a magic chair in Rome to canonize whatever is said by the dude who sits on it, they have never declared words they say to be beyond critique but at the same time the church functions as is logical - it is best to pursue Holiness and Truth in a group of educated scholars rather than founding your own church and saying that your feelings tell you that this verse means A instead of B when it explicitly says neither.
It's also important that so many Protestant churches base their doctrine off English translations, which is ridiculous.
