What’s it like being white and living in California?

I want to leave, but change is scary and I don't want to be far from my aging parents anyways. Maybe when they pass away I'll move to Thailand or a red state. I really have no CLUE what its like to live in a red state where people share similar political/life views.

California sucks. The only good thing is the weather but even that gets unbearably hot as fuck sometimes.

Oh and the weed being legalized is pretty crazy. I can drive down the block and buy Cannibutter to put on anything I want, usually bagels, and get high as fuck all day on 50-100mg legally.

Other than that, it sucks bigly.

It’s kinda shitty. I’m close to the Bay Area but not really in it all. There’s a shit ton of hardcore Leftists at my school but I mostly avoid them and troll them on the web. It’s mostly not white here, but you start seeing Hispanics and Asians as white mentally. I think when you’re deprived from your in-group, you recreate it with the next most similar people.

Gas prices out here in $4.20 and rising for the Summer, rent is expensive, houses are expensive, traffic is gridlock, toll lanes are gridlocked during peak times, metrolink is alright, OCTA is decent, weather is beautiful most of the year, can ski & surf in the same day, jobs are great if you are skilled otherwise gtfo, in-n-out is the best, the palm trees always remind you where you are, and overall this state has it's own vibe of the west compared to the US.

Democrats are pretty much the standard because of beaners, homeless, and other gibs recipients.

Wife and I live in an upper-middle-class enclave. Most of our neighbors are aging boomers (lean conservative for most part). We have zero friends in close proximity. Everything is expensive. Everything turns to hell right outside our immediate area. Traffic is horrible. The fact that so many people are okay with spending hours and hours in their car each day blows my mind. We plan to get out as soon as kids are beyond rearing age.

I live in a gated community with other white people (and some Asians who never interact and just awkwardly wave). Most of my neighbors are pretty right-wing, but San Diego isn't nearly as liberal as the rest of the state to begin with, so that's not saying much. The weather is nice and the food is good. Everything else sucks and I have no intention of staying once this job is done.

There is a very toxic social environment where members of the opposite sex have extreme difficulty relating to each other in a natural way.

Outside of major cities CA is still nearly heaven. You have to deal with excessive business regulations, but the people in the country in Norcal are some of the finest neighbors you'll ever have. Central valley are farmers and that keeps you immune to liberalism. There are still major problems at the economic state level but it's not nearly as bad as the reputation is, which comes from thinking the areas of hollywood and fecal areas of san francisco and ridiculous rent. Outside of cities... pretty good man.

Smaller coastal cities are great by in large still, though the overall political problems remain. Inland devolves pretty quickly and can be hit or miss (nice and country, or meth-laby). All the major cities are shitty now, exception being San Diego. I'd trade the current CA political/social environment back for the smog and inner-city gang bullshit of the '80s in a heartbeat.

I'm older GenX. Wealthy. On the south-central coast. It's great, lived here forever, and well insulated. No niggers, spics are everywhere but I don't have to deal with them except in service roles. Private/prep school (or homeschooling) is mandatory. If you're not rich, or have the will/drive/ability to be so, then don't bother. More bang for your buck elsewhere, in a similar/better environment (TX gulf coast for instance).

I just moved back to Pennsylvania after 7 years in LA. The city is becoming a playground for the rich. There is no chance of buying a home for less than $1MM within city limits and if you want something in the $200-300k range (your options will suck) you're looking almost 2 hours outside the city. Renting in the city starts with 275 sqft studios for $1500 a month and only goes up from there. That's in shitty neighborhoods too. There are so many cars that parking has become a total disaster. The metro lines are being built in poorly strategized locations at way too slow speeds. Homeless encampments continue to grow wider and denser. I think a disease is going to break out across the city sometime in the very near future. So many people bathing in their own shit in the downtown area...

I was paying $1800 a month for a 1 bedroom rental, no chance I would ever be able to afford to own a home. Now I pay a $1200/month mortgage on a 2000 sqft house in Philadelphia. Philly lacks the food and entertainment options that made LA great but being able to own property and be surrounded by working class white peoples who care about their neighborhood seems like a gift after spending time in CA where everyone is self serving. Also way easier to own a gun here and wayyyyy more conversavites. In Philly proper you see a lot of Dems but go just outside city limits and it's MAGA country. Only 90 minutes from NYC, 90 minutes from Poconos to ski in the winter, and 60 minutes from the Jersey Shore. Pretty great imo. Plus I'm in a swing state and get to help hand Trump his next term.

They're getting pushed out too . They congregate in areas like east LA where there are so many of them that they hand their apartments down to their family members and you rarely see anything go up on the market. But yeah for the most park they're out in suburbs like Pico Union, Whittier, Pomona area, etc. Palms is the last stronghold of Hispanics in LA proper but it's only a matter of time before they're priced out as well. Most Hispanics you see on the street in LA are in the city for work and usually leave in their brokedown pickups or buses.

California is a great place to visit or live for short periods of time. The scenery is beautiful and there's a lot of fun stuff to do. "White people" things like hiking, camping, climbing, anything outdoors are great because just about every biome you can think of is represented in California. But the future of the state is obviously pretty dismal and it's not a place anyone should try to put down roots.

Interesting thought, and I believe you're correct. But also...those two groups do tend to emulate white values and society when they reach a sufficient level of familiarity with them, and with English. They LIKE the way whites live and want that for themselves. Mexican peasants are one thing but a lot of fleeing South American middle class people ended up here too, and they often have pretty conservative and Catholic values so it's not hard to get along with them. I only wish everyone from south of the border was like them.
