America doesn't want to get it's military up. Pretty much any first world nation, but America specifically can erase any non first world nation. If tomorrow America decided that it wanted to be the only power in the Americas then by the week afterwards it would be the only power in the Americas. The only think that stops America literally erasing every other nation it doesn't like is peer pressure from the rest of the world to not be a giant death machine; and the internal culture. Anything that refuses to recognise this simple fact is cope of the highest order.

It doesn't have the will because it doesn't need it. You understand that right now America is basically running on a backburner with its military and it could still wipe out half the world overnight. It doesn't go balls deep into walls because it uses it's economic powers and frankly absurd trade control to dominate the world. You realise that out of the three main 'powers' in the world only one of them is a united nation, only one of them a net producer of oil, technologies and arms and only one of them is the USA. Any claim to the contrary is envy at its finest.

There is nothing Canada has that could stop a US invasion if they wanted to. The real sad part is that it is doubtful anyone would intervene against the US to save Canada as their place in the world has really lowered in recent years.
