Plate tectonics is a (possibly deliberately) mistaken theory born out of the expanded earth theory but with subduction instead of expansion so the earth stays the same size... which is lunacy. While the ice at the Arctic is floating in water the first things to melt in the north would be the permafrost in areas like Canada, Greenland, Iceland and Russia. Since those ice formations are on land they would not be raising the water level like ice in a glass. Their mass might push down on the crust to have the same type of effect but the net effect of that might not be linear, I don't know enough about plate tectonics to speculate on the results here. The Antarctic ice formations are on a continental landmass too.

Your analogy is wrong but even when corrected I can't see how to make it work without knowing what the net effect of ice melting from a free floating surface which is suspended in a lava like substance in to an adjacent body of water which is sort of held on top on a cluster of the free floating surfaces and connected to the lava below.

My point is a large amount of the ice is not in water, it's on land, the ice might be raising or lowering the sea level by being on water more than it raises or lowers the sea level by being in water.

More importantly you suggest that ice in water melting would impact the sea level. It would not. An ice formation in water takes up more volume beneath the waterline to store the same amount of water molecules but some water molecules are held above the waterline because ice floats. When the ice melts its total volume takes up the same volume as the ice beneath the waterline took up before, but that volume now holds more molecules.

Do your experiment, mark the waterline on the glass. When the ice melts the waterline will be at the same level.
