Before 1981, the debt-to-GDP ratio of Greece was below 20%. And as you can see from the chart, it was only in 1987 when we surpassed the EU in terms of debt-to-GDP ratio and it was simultaneously the first time in which the Greek debt reached the 50% limit. Before 1987, it wasn't even at 50%, with our debt being constantly under 20% of our GDP until 1982. We were basically debt-free.
Then, how did we become a debt colony of the 4th Reich, known as the EU? Did the Greek people, as a whole, know about this, as many shills from abroad claim?
No. We didn't know shit. In my previous thread, a Romanian said that we allegedly knew that we were economically enslaved since 2005. The truth is that, we didn't know anything. I didn't even find articles back from that year suggesting that the real numbers were revealed. All of the real numbers were revealed in late 2010-early 2011. And I remember vividly myself. Everyone was shocked: for real. Everybody was outraged, and hatred for the established politicians grew in an instant. From that moment, (((PASOK))), the Socialists, went from 45% of the vote to a mere 13% of the votes in just months to the elections of early 2012. And (((New Democracy))), the Liberals, saw their approval dwindled from 40% to a just 16% of the votes. The Greek Parliament was destroyed. But, it wasn't just that...
In mid 2011, the already huge protests that were in progress from May 2010 against the loans, both the former since the mid 80s and the new ones who would accompany themselves with austerity measures that would destroy the average household, got even wilder. In mid 2011, in light of the real numbers of the Greek debt, which was one of the prime reasons for the implementation of PSI and the second bailout program, the protests got even tougher. In June 2011, the month which the data was revealed, protests, each attracting hundreds of thousands, all hell went loose. Over 270 people were injured, many almost to death.
