The way I see it. Things will start be rationed, and the retards who can't plan ahead will starve. Sure you can stock up on food, but that will eventually be depleted. Learning to maintain a large garden can go a long way. Even if you don't have the land to feed yourself entirely for a year, you'll be a lot better off than those who don't know how to grow their own food. You're gonna have extra food to supplement any rations you're allotted, and in the case things go full Venezuela and no food shows up for a few weeks or months, you're going to be fine.

Personally, I've been learning gardening for a few years now. I've converted 1/3 of my yard for food growing. I hope to get a chicken coop and a few honeybee hives within a year or so as well. Good source of protein, sugars, and the bees will be great pollinators for the garden.
