There's definitely a guaranteed and consistent maliciousness to bouts of stimulant psychosis, unlike with psychosis caused by tripping which can seem either holy or demonic, or other various shades. Benzos are actually the worst thing to be addicted to because getting off them is very very difficult. It can take months to get off something like valium and if you just go cold turkey you can outright fucking die.
Heroin withdrawal is hard, but it's withdrawal is measurable in weeks. Benzos can take months to even years.

Taken *very* rarely though, they are amazing chill pills.

I've been prescribed amphetamines since I was a kid for ADHD, It's odd as there are many days where I don't take my pills because I slept in late or just don't feel like it. In the past I have outright lost track of bottles because I ignored them and maybe my fuckhead brother stole it and I didn't notice.

Though I also have insomnia and had a doctor tell me recently that *not* taking dexamphetamine in the morning may be making me not able to sleep at night because I'm softly addicted to them, thought she was full of shit but actually she might be right I dunno.

On that note though, Quietapine 50mg is the best sleeping pill I have ever taken, holy shit. When you want to sleep like the dead for 12-16 hours look no further. Just takes a while to kick in and you get mega hungry.

I try to avoid downers. Most I delve into is 4 bears or so a couple times a week. I've used 4-AcO-DMT and 1P-LSD to break free from a blooming alcoholism several years back, and have maintained my control over alcohol since. Hell, one of the first medicinal features of psychedelics that was quickly recognized was treatment for alcoholism. I once saw a fascinating video of some old 1950s medicinal study of the use of LSD to treat alcoholic patients. The study noted that no treatments before had ever made such progress. An over 60% success rate.

Maybe it's because psychedelics cause one to "lighten up" a bit, ego-wise. One of the great causes in alcoholism and other addictions is people fighting against their own selves.
Ego death is usually a bad thing though. You need a little ego. But ego can quickly become your enemy as well. Just look at Twitter. One of the reasons Jow Forums is so much better for discussion than Twitter or Reddit is because most people here post as a single unknown entity, Anonymous. This keeps ego in check better.

But diazepines are also used by some of us, occasionally, just to take an edge off.

Though it should be absolutely stated that the hangover from booze is a good thing in regards to diazepines which lack said hangover. Diazepines are notoriously insidious as drugs of abuse. I only keep some etizolam and clonazolam around for use on a rainy day. Clonazolam and some chicken soup w/ OJ can really help get through a cold.
