I'm curious if the pain stopped in the abscess, then continued later on. Having never had my wisdom teeth removed (do it folks), and having multiple abscesses from them breaking through my other teeth, I was only worried when the pain stopped hurting, and it swelled up quite large. I'm no specialist (just a retard with an internet connection), but I'd imagine the tooth would die before an infection of the jaw first. At least in most cases. There is not enough information and context to develop a good clinical picture. Whether bone necrosis is related to abscesses or tooth involvement... it is impossible to say without being able to assess and actually read progress notes and imaging interpretations.
