On the reason behind the existence of evil and ultimately our purpose:
First we must define evil. Evil is whats wrong in Gods eyes. God gave us free will, and free will requires the abillity to choose wrong, or else we would not be able to choose at all. If choosing wrong is evil then there cant be free will without evil

God creates Humans in his image, and he loves every one of them that is and will be. Satan, being basically a spoiled Child doesnt like us getting our fathers attention and thus tries to show him how lowly we are by corrupting us. He does this by bringing the fruit of knowledge of good and evil to us, which while likely intended for us eventually, we werent ready to eat yet as we were basically little babies in adult bodies.
With the fruit now Eaten we had to learn of both, Good and Evil. We knew good from our father and from being in Eden, but what was missing is Evil.
The best way to learn is to experience, thus we have to experience evil to learn of it, and we couldnt have evil in Paradise thus were send out, possibly falling from a spiritual state of existence into this mortal and material state. This world is sandbox/a tutorial so to speak. A containment reality where we can fuck around without being able to fuck up cosmically. Here we are meant to experience Evil, and Satan trying to corrupt us still is doing so by unleashing every plague he has up his sleeve onto us that we may fall from faith while simultaniously subverting what good and evil is. God loving and trusting us lets this happen since its the best way to learn of evil for us in the first place, and because he knows we will still praise God after everything. This is essentially the story of Job on a global scale.

Basically we are meant to learn good choices, and what this good actually is

How would you argue against people who say god isn't real and made up?

I would hint them towards sacred geometry showing there is an intelligent design behind the things. I would hint towards remote viewing showing that we arent bound to this body but merely inhabiting it meaning there is stuff not explainable by material means. I personally like the King James because the errors contained are known and well documented.
Plus, it just sounds cooler.

If you don't like it, don't worry so much about it, just remember all translations have errors not contained in the original.

Honestly i think all have issues. The by many favored KJV for example conflates a bunch of different groups under the term „jew“. All versions based on the masoretic text also deleted 100 years of each of the descendents of shem to abraham to enable pilpul about christ not being high priest which you see when comparing to the greek septuigint. Personally i would try to find a translation based on the septuigint or maybe even dead sea scrolls if the book in question is available

YouVersion has an app that will even have a cool British guy KJV to you.
I like it because sometimes eye strain makes me not want to read it myself.

Interesting,i heard many people call the KJV outdated but i've never heard them say why,also i've never really shared the Protestant religious views,i'm more closely attuned to the Catholic and of course Orthodox religious views

No idea to be honest, and at times it gets tricky. For example whereas the jupiterian deities fit michael the september peophecy likens Jupiter to Jesus. Jupiter originally also means „sky father“, like the heavenly father but that may be just a hint to his origin to God like the names of angels also do Also lucifer and satan i believe to be the same, but they seem to be linked to different planets. I can add that i suspect Mercury/hermes (/thoth even though thoth is generally associated with the moon he is seen as equal to hermes who himself is mercury) i believe can be linked to gabriel as since how hermes is the messenger of the gods so does Gabriel seem to be always the guy that brings the messages of God to the people, in example he was the one telling joseph and mary that they will being the messiahs into the world
