THREAD THEME: youtube.com
theres not really much surface you could colonize on it considering the tempatures are around 500c. though sky cities could work as tempatures above the skies are more survivable.but if one thing goes wrong with the airship you go crashing on a planet where you would literally get crushed on the surface.
"Thus, the central objection raised against the human settlement and terraforming of Mars: Such projects may be technologically feasible, but there is no possible way that they can be paid for. On the surface, the arguments given supporting this position appear cogent, for Mars is a distant place, difficult to access, and possesses a hostile environment that holds no apparent resources of economic value. These arguments appear ironclad, yet it must be pointed out that they were also presented in the past as convincing reasons for the utter impracticality of the European settlement of North America and Australia."
Robert Zubrin, The Case for Mars.

Today we're going strong, thread #2
A new thread eh? Let's do this
Moon base user here. We must first ask the question: how will we create an incentive for space exploration and colonization? 1. Military application. First country to build a base on the moon will undoubtedly have military superiority. Perhaps new orbit to ground weaponry will be created. Ships that can fire from orbit. Better logistics. Etc.. 2. Economic Gain. Completely untapped natural resources on the moon and mars. There’s also that asteroid mining shit I’ve been hearing about. 3. Data collection. With an established presence in space and proper funding we could learn so much more about ourselves and how the universe works.
Another issue with space colonization is the amount of energy and material that will be needed to create habitats and ships. I do not think America alone could supply the endeavor. The world must work together, and the only way for that to happen is for someone to conquer the globe. America would be the best bet for that.
I really hope no faggots hijack this for political use, this is a achievement for all of humanity, for for (((CIA))) puppets.
At the moment /etm/ is normally posted once a week every saturday around 10pm UK time and is a place on Jow Forums to speak about all things space related. Please try to ignore the flat-earth fags.

The competition on Earth drives the conquest of space. US vs China mostly is a good thing for the time being.

>There are signs of liquid water on Mars.
For years Mars has been known to have water in the form of ice. The first signs of trickling water are dark stripes or stains on crater wall and cliffs seen in satellite images. Due to Mars’ atmosphere this water would have to be salty to prevent it from freezing or vaporizing.
To the user in the last thread that was talking about what America stopped doing.. You're not wrong about everything else you posted, just the missile defence part.
I didn't reply in time to the dead thread.
>Bush's program to install an identical system all along the east and west coasts (to protect against SLBM's) and our northern border (ICBM's) was canceled by Obama, on the basis that making it impossible for Russia and China to nuke us while still being able to nuke them would render MAD impossible, and therefore something something appease the enemy
But that didn't happen.
The only thing Obama cancelled was the GMD installation in Poland, the GMD facilities in Alaska and California still got built and are being expanded as testing to C3 continues.
In Europe the single GMD in Poland idea got replaced by installing TWO Aegis Ashore facilities in Romania & Poland.

the proper question you should be asking, as opposed to all of those bullshit practical reasons that bennifit mankind... is:
"How can we make super rich shareholders even more absurdly wealthy by going into space"
Once you figure that one out, THEN you will have expansion into space.
but not until then.
For the US to conquer the globe we must neutralize the nuclear threat of other countries bearing ICBMs. I’ve thought of a few ways to do this. 1. Orbital weapons that can knock out launch sites simultaneously thus rendering the country’s nuclear strike capability kaput. 2. Anti-missile technology capable of 99% neutralization capability of a nuclear warhead. If either are achieved we can then leverage other countries to join our endeavor in space. Or forcibly annex them. Any ideas?
>Another issue with space colonization is the amount of energy and material that will be needed to create habitats and ships.
Well that's the beauty of space and the whole point of moving away from rampant capitalism. If we disregard our economies to a certain degree we can fund a massive space race and of course, there are plenty of resources to be found elsewhere in the solar system so everything we lose can regained
YES.
I'm so fucking happy I might actually get to see this shit happen in my lifetime. An actual moon colony, imagine.
Question: Terraforming
Can someone link me a video or give me a quick rundown on how long it will take nor the steps it will take to start to do it?
I can tell you right now, we will not see any viable terrforming projects in our lifetimes.
Soon. All we need to do is make some white babies and hold out for a little longer, then even if we can't make changes on earth then our people will still make it to Mars and we can carry on struggling.
It would, unfortunately, be impossible to survive on Mars without constant imports from Earth. Martian soil is radiation blasted to sterility.
>"Mars: Making the New Earth"
>youtube.com
Thought experiment: the best way to get the Moon colony is NOT being excited about it. Assume it's the normal and next logical thing to happen. Make everybody else think so. Then Congress has to give the money and make private company-friendly regulations because the idea is validated and they'd be a huge letdown if they wouldn't fund it.
>terraforming
Pic, related
>"But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?
>We choose to go to the Moon! We choose to go to the Moon...We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too."
Terraforming is not an option. We will have to build structures capable of; keeping an atmosphere, agriculture large enough to sustain a small population, housing, and maybe a basketball court or gym. Then we can build mining facilities, Solar farms, Nuclear reactors etc.. terraforming will probably never happen though. That shit sounds completely science fiction
I'm gonna decline this reply and state the following:
>Underground technology is 50 years ahead of us and with space, unknown sources state that they do have the tech, but hiding it due to other countries
>That saying, acceleration of technology could happen if we land on mars, since humanity has a better footprint in our sol system
Thanks I'll take a read
Kek, worth a read
Isaac Arthur has good videos
youtube.com
You would at best see the very beginnings of a project before you died.
That's good to know
So.. What is SpaceX going to do with that Carbon fiber form now that they aren't using that stuff for Starship now?
Or will they still be using the carbon fiber tube for the booster?
what does it take to be a planet colonizer?
We could need Colonial Associations that promote moving to Mars. And a Settlement Agency that trains and (financially) supports willing speci- erm settlers.

We are so fucking lucky to have him. He was almost swolled up by the madness of South Africa but he got out, and now he is going to take us all to Mars.
Kikes must be seething.
Holy shit that reminds me...... Von Braun said the leader of Mars would be called "Elon" in a book.
I'm worried about that desu. There are no coincidence that big in a world where kikes have power.
Fucking zoomers like you
Don't fight it, user. J-join us.
>Von Braun said the leader of Mars would be called "Elon" in a book.
Who will colonize Mars? If it's a bunch of people and races from all around the globe, will Mars become America in space?
Which planet should the ethnostate colonize, how about Venus?
user it doesnt fucking matter when it comes to Mars, think of the long run, planets just for whites, blacks only.
It's likley that Mars will be mostly Asian and White, with some rich Indians and Arabs.
I really want to get to the bottom of this
>Venus
Only incels lust for Venus. Because they hope there's less competition.
>Mars become America in space
You mean the shithole that's #1 in military, science, economy?
"The Mars Project"

>You mean the shithole that's #1 in military, science, economy?
Yes, its the only chances you got.
and a memelord
>"The Mars Project"
I know... but I don't understand. Is it a coincidence or engineered.
>Mars: I'm gonna go deep freeze
>Elon: I'm bout' to end this man's whole career
Americans be like we will find our identity on some distant planet instead of creating it first on this damned earth. This is some next level of white flight, fucking cowards
>America finds it's own planet
Huh, just like in my Wiki fandom that I'm making
I have a question, what if it takes 30 years to Terraform Mars?
Would we take off to more planets after or?
IF space was real, all these rich tech monopolists would be building spinning artificial gravity habitats. Where are they?
Because communism/leftism is holding us back
Mars is a lie you guys
there isn't really anywhere else decent to colonise in the solar system. Plenty of places to explore though.
>inb4 venus fags start screeching
I stand by my claim.
>only incels lust for Venus
Imagine you having an uncircumcised penis, would you rather colonize the faggot planet Mars or a the virgin Venus
Ah nevermind, America is the homeland of degeneracy and anal sex
there's already companies for space mining and space 3D printing so building habitats and structures in space will be a non issue in the future
Lots of scifi authors like Charles Stross predict muslims in space! Due to how gay the west is!
Looking through my archives... our artists need some inspirations.
They are right. I think UAE is already planning to build hotels and stuff there
Kek, that was from the thread discussing Musk's first IAC announcement in 2016.
hows this
Not sure if that's still true.
We need 10,000 new companies making a wide array of products, services and destinations.
there's already a ton of companies just look up new space
Beautiful.
W-we need more.
Appealing.
bump for /spaceforce/
>NASA has plans up to 2050
>Mfw all we are doing here is fighting with each other, but not working together to reach the starts, then we can reach True ecoplanetes for all races
I could put that in real in my office.
MORE. Fail harder. Do it again. Rinse, repeat until we are in space everywhere.
>2016
>First time opening up, went with Trump
>2019
>Now going beyond Jow Forums and redpills, and now becoming spacepilled
Is this part of the evolution?
What's this?
Yes. It is what will devide the Varg-fags from the real NatSocs. The TRUE future of the European is to be out there amongst the stars.
Elon Musk is such a faggot
>The TRUE future of the European is to be out there amongst the stars.
BWAHAHAHA, DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT?
OTHER ALIENS DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THAT!
We're still going to do it to Mars as a vanity project. And yes, we have a solution to the atmospheric stripping problem.
>phys.org
It does need big rockets, but that's something we're already working on. Everything else is very straightforward electrical engineering.
The weak of magnetic field on Mars, the best candidate for terraforming, means that any atmosphere created would be slowly destroyed and the people irradiated, we'd have to learn to create a magnetic field.
restart the core desu. I'm not sure what tech we could use to do that
>drill deep hole
>nuke the core
?
>img from 2013
A lot of them are no longer with us. Planetary Resources, Deep Space Industries, the GLXP. Then Astrobotics and Moon Express still have to produce something more than NASA-funded studies.
Why is ArianeSpace and ULA a NewSpace?
XCor is dead.
But some success stories as well. Nanoracks is good. Masten is still going.
Etc. It's to be expected that within six years we have to see changes.
What could it be? It says investors that engage in NewSpace.
Would building a space elevator that could attach and dis attach be the correct way to go?
>NewSpace
Space jews?
key you are Elon
>Planetary Resources
They're still around, they're just running small to avoid wasting money. They need launches to be cheaper than they are now, sort of how Bigelow isn't going to fly anything until there's a manned vehicle other than the Soyuz to get to their stations.
We can't build space elevators for Earth, but skyhooks are feasible.
>giant orbiting mechanism that yeets vehicles into space, then slowly boosts its central point of rotation back up with hall/ion engines
One problem with the knowledge of that pic is that we don't know the gravity restraints needed for life to exist.
We only have data on micro-G and 1G, after all, none on any G between 0 and 1. It could turn out we only need .1 G in order to live, it may turn out that anything below .9 G is bad, we just don't know.
Further proof that vertical integration of enterprise, where possible, makes a lot of sense. How far behind would SpaceX be if they left engine development to Rocketdyne?
For what?
For the Earth not possible currently (tether materials not strong enough). For the Moon it could work though.
A Crypto/Blockchain company bought them and it's unclear what they do with the mostly empty shell. Or has anything changed since then?
