This is true. We live in a purgatory where it's increasingly difficult to get basic things like job security and a loving family, but things are not so bad that people want to revolt. It's honestly worse than a collapse, because at least in a collapse we can restart. My biggest fear is that the purgatory continues indefinitely or for centuries even.
