This. I went to the Occupy moment, especially after 08 when my fucking house went over, I was pissed and the fucking banks not only got away with it but got a fucking bailout. Towards the end, nothing was getting done, more time as spent being leaderless and letting everyone talks and then things started to split out into other directions. If they stuck to the message of putting the bankers in jail that deserve and and some finical reforms along with a leader for each place to coordinate it all then shit wouuld have gotten done. The last one I went to was a bunch of hippies letting everyone talk about random shit, it was fucking stupid. It was so strong and then slowly died, just sad. This is when I started going hard right.

I haven't talked about it with hardly anyone since it happened. I'm not sure if anyone even remembers it happened, let alone what it was about.

I’m not a racist but I do not know how any honest person cannot see through the fog at this point. Multiculturalism is a self-defense mechanism employed by the state to keep citizens who have no shared identity pinned against each other through religious, cultural, and ethnic differences so they cannot unite as a political entity against the government to make real poltical change. That was about a month into it. There were people that were actually dedicated and had jobs (like myself) but then the arm chair activists came out after the real shit was going down ( I was in Phoenix, it was nuts on that first day, cops everywhere, guys with fully loaded AR's keeping an eye on the protesters to protect them form the cops, people literally yelling, but no riots) and then a week later it was bums and arm chair activists and the housewifes that came out and fucked it all up with their bullshit and threw us off message. Towards the end it was nothing like before, just a hippie circlejerk so I stopped going, at least I held on longer than most.

The first week was intense, and then a month into it is when the true colors started to show and that was the end for me, I had to stop going. And great point, that IS when black lives matter came out, and that is the shit that threw it off message, but that was bound to happen without a leader, their shit of letting everyone have a say and not keeping it focused ruined them. That commie shit sounds nice but doesn't work, they needed strong and centralized leadership to keep everyone on message, jail the bankers, no bailouts, fuck them all, and financial reforms, that was all we had to do. I think you're maybe underestimating how hard it got infiltrated by the feds. The far left/progressive stack/identity politics shit was a big part of that strategy. Black Lives Matter as a named movement did not come around until the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, although the seeds of it started during Occupy. But BLM as a named movement was stage managed from day one.

I thought about being a documentarist so I went around to all the socal camps and talked to people. Did a bunch of interviews and there was never any cohesive idea of what was supposed to happen. Yeah, it's hard to have an open movement in that manner that isn't prone to infiltration. However, I disagree on needing strong central leadership. That goes too far, and misses the point of the movement. Though, a stronger anti infiltration organization structure is needed, it just doesn't necessarily have to be leadership based.

That's fairly accurate. Technically, BLM wasn't named until after, but the seeds were in Occupy, and it was never organic, but shoe horned all the way. And yeah, Tea party was slightly beforehand, also stage managed, but there were cross-overs. There was even a Occupy-Tea Party unity group at the National Gathering that were focused on common ground and class warfare.

I can't speak for all of the other but the Chicago one actually had a solid mix of different political supporters all pissed at the banks and the bailout.

There were a surprising amount of Ron Paul supporters and people who were from the Tea Party movement who were all really friendly and young. There were also a bunch of actual commune living anarchists who were also great, not the Antifa type but the we want to be out own people and do our own thing without pushing it on anyone else type. Of course their were a ton of college kids. One of the largest rallies actually got union back up in November which doubled the last big rally I went to.

I think it got torn apart by the cliquish "leadership" that started to appear after money started getting involved. Suddenly "free lawyers" started appearing. People trying to lead protestors into arrest areas, people talking about waiting to riot until nato /G8. All of a sudden you also had the teach ins turn hard left with people talking about getting rid of police and other nonsense.

I bailed later than most but did not show up for the NATO protests because at that point it had been completely coopted by the hard left.

Since then I've become a pretty hardcore paleocon whereas before I'd be a standard 90s democrat.
