Not much of a sports guy myself, and have more than a few criticisms, but I wholeheartedly support sports. I often envy the sports nuts; The camaraderie, the energy, the days and nights in the stands cheering on your team. These are all good things.
What I'd change is make it clear that some asshole's opinion isn't worth more just because he threw a fucking ball. No more athletes being treated like royalty. Sports are their job, not a fucking gift from God.

Teams should have rules that limit the number of players who aren't local to the area the team is supposed to represent.
1 or 2 per team in most sports is enough to let the star players move around and still have a team of people you can root for.

"football" players can't run continuously for more than 10 seconds. The game is like this: quarterback gets the ball, everybody starts running to take their position for less than 10 seconds. Quarterback throws ball. Play over. 10 minute break. Now compare that to football where players run continuously for 2 hours.
