There are multiple plans laying out such an exercise. The difficulty in taming Mexico is that it's a 4-front operation. First you'd need to position fleets off of the Western and Eastern coasts. Second, you'd need to allocate AS fighters for control over the gulf. Third, you'd need to create and manage positions along ~2km of desert border. Forth, you'd need the National Guard and numerous DOD offices to coordinate homeland defense.
Shattering Mexican military and infrastructure isn't the difficult part. The civilian migration is. People fleeing the cities will scatter into rural areas with little to no access to water, latrines, or food.
I think alot of people in this thread have no concept of wartime logistics. We could, for the first time ever, have aircraft taking off from US soil, carrying out sorties, and landing back on US soil. No foreign bases or aircraft carriers required. Well maybe to bomb Mexico City if it came to that.
And somehow we’re getting our ass kicked in Afghanistan and not to mention got our ass kick by north Vietnam.
