I am convinced that the average human requires substantially more sleep than that, based on how much metabolic energy goes to brain function. The 8hr myth is something pushed by greedy capitalists, probably Jews, who don't give a fuck if you develope dementia from the plaques that build up in your brain from running on a life-long sleep deficit.
The 8hr sleep myth needs to be reviewed for a human to run at peak ability, imo, they need at least 12hrs of sleep.
okay become a sleep scientist and study this shit and then we can talk
Adam Long
Humans need about 6 hours of sleep according to most peer-reviewed studies across the board..
Hudson Powell
im lucky if I get 6
Levi Brooks
You need to sleep with an eye mask, in order to block out any light. Light is very bad for sleep. And when you wake up, you should not actively try to go back to sleep, you should wake up.
>Proverbs 20:13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
Nathaniel King
this would make sense if 8hrs of sleep were a phenomenon that came after industrialization, but humans have been sleeping close to this amount since pretty much forever.
Cameron Phillips
Shut the fuck up lazy faggot. People actually function fine long term with 5 hours of sleep with proper diet and activity. Even better if its broken up in to 2-3 hour blocks.
Jonathan Kelly
My experience is that we're all different. If I don't get at least 8, I'm fucked. Some people I know can function on much less. My eyes would be burning on their schedules.
Colton Stewart
take the [2* 3 hour sessions of sleep] pill
Aiden Wilson
Sources?
At six hours of sleep I a dragging miserable zombie, I couldn't imagine being deprived to that degree every day of my life, it would take years off of me.
Luis Parker
Nah i do that, i feel like shit all day.
Jeremiah Hernandez
At people have been slaving t make others rich since forever, thus have been compelled to deprive themselves at sleep as to "not be late". Look to nature, look at the noble lion, he sleeps 16hrs a day, and his brain function requires a fraction of metabolic energy from a ratio standpoint than a humans does.
One long period of sleep during the night, usually starting around nightfall and sometimes punctuated by a short period of waking in the middle of the night and random naps taken when on down time from hunting or farming seem to be the way we evolved with sleep.
In modern times we sleep later and don't take naps as often. Also, many people don't wake with the morning light and some don't get any natural light in the first part of their day, which can mess up you circadian rhythm. Are we fucked?
Jose Barnes
>Human metabolic functions that have worked the way they have since forever should actually be different...
Angel Robinson
This.
All I'm saying is that the prescribed sleep schedule for the average working person in the western world feels wildly unnatural
Nolan Watson
I sleep 11-12 hours every day. No alarm, no responsibilities, no sleep schedule. My days are usually 25-26 hours long, but it depends on the day. Sometimes I go to bed after 10 hours, sometimes after 20 hours. I only sleep when I'm tired and I only wake up when I'm rested.
I feel very rested and relaxed all the time and don't have to take any medicine, caffeine or anything unnatural to keep me awake or to fall asleep.
Xavier Sanchez
People are different, and the still growing need more sleep too. When I was working nights I slept about 10hrs a day, and still felt like shit, sleeping at night I only need 7ish, plus a lay in one a week or so. If you find yourself needing more than time allows, do some light research into sleep hygiene.
John Anderson
I agree with this and lots of Jow Forumsizen have the same opinion. A strong 8h sleep + going to bed when it gets dark and waking up when it gets bright gives you maximum gainz. Also people report that when they take zinc supplements that they have more vivid dreams and they rest better. I heard somewhere that estrogen causes an unstable sleep so women have more perception for their infants. Thats why men have better sleep, but overall women need less.
Luis Scott
YMMV. The 8 hour sleep was propagated during the industrial age of 8 hours of work, 8 hours of play, 8 hours of sleep. Trinities remain a very popular way to segment things.
I'd say people need to be able to cycle into deep sleep as long and as often as possible to get the best rest. I'm no sleep scientist but I'd figure getting as much restorative sleep is better than getting a lot of regular sleep.
I'll feel great if I sleep specifically two, five, nine, or fifteen hours, and can squeeze in an extra hour if I need to. I prefer five and nine if I can help it.
Jonathan Anderson
Do you work or go to school with a schedule like that? Wouldn't it be hard to maintain stuff like appointments if you don't know when you're going to be asleep?
Levi Reyes
Are you rich? Do you work at all?
Logan Davis
I only sleep 10 hours if I'm up for several days.
8 is nice, but 6 is good too, I can survive on 4 as well.
Ethan Stewart
Airing out your room periodically also improves sleep. Higher carbon dioxide concentrations impairs cognitive function and modern homes are sealed tight.
This is purely anecdotal but a quick airing out of my bedroom brought back very vivid dreams. That room is very poorly ventilated (the vent doesn't appear to circulate air even with aircon) and it drives me nuts if I stay in it for too long as a result.
Jordan Nelson
you need at least two days a week if you work a 40+ work week that you sleep in which would be 7 hours or more
William Ramirez
You're completely right, house plants help out with this a lot.
As convincing as the joe rogan podcast with the sleep expert was, I'm inclined to believe the right number is actually six. If I sleep more than six I have a hard time waking up. I've consistently averaged 6 before I had insomnia, and after I beat it. Any more and I'm about worthless for the day.
Christopher King
I could never sleep 12 hrs every night. I’m usually good with 6-7. Probably because I’m not malnourished like most people. Eat liver, your diet is basically everything
William Wright
Talkin about dreams, I’ll eat a couple cans of Sardines and a can of oysters a couple hours before bed and man do you get some crazy dreams
Ryder Jackson
I used to work for a year after I graduated in finance. Both my father and my uncle died in a car accident 15 months ago and I received all the money from my childless uncle (~1.2 million € (mainly in properties that return monthly rent)) and half of the money (my mother got the other half) from my father (~180K € + a flat with ~52sqmt). I quit my job temporarily to arrange the funeral and helped my mother for a month and then decided to quit my job indefinitely. I don't have many "appointments". I live in a small flat in Vienna (that is already paid for by my father) and other than grocery shopping (which can be done almost all day long, where I live) I try to visit my mother at least once a week. I go to the dentist 2 times a year and that's it. I barely leave my flat for anything other than grocery shopping. All the properties of my uncle are managed over companies. It's a bunch of big houses of which he has a certain percentage (the most is 9%). That means I don't have to care at all about finding tenants or anything else involved in the properties. All that changed is that I wanted to insure myself (because I no longer work) and that I have to declare my taxes. But this is so simple, that I can do it myself from the knowledge of my studies and only have to have it signed by an accountant. I get 3458€ from rent currently and my expenses are about 1900€ (620 income tax (that's broken down, I only have to pay this quarterly), 450 insurance, 400 food, rest are utilities like internet, electricity and some small stuff like other taxes).
Logan Flores
But we got to Wage slave tho
Christopher Williams
do you think you'll eventually get bored of this arrangement?
Alexander Howard
if undisturbed, I sleep for exactly 8 hours down to the minute
Isaac Ross
Thanks for the breakdown. Interesting set up you have.
Mason Reed
Sorry for your loss user. But I'm happy you are taken care of. It's very good of you to visit your mom like that. I hope these circumstances can allow you time to grieve, and the freedom to find something meaningful for you, whether is starting a family, an interest, or simply enjoying life. Do you ever do any travelling?
Josiah Fisher
aactualy in survive ln one hour od sleep actually
Daniel Bell
i've been sleeping on 5 hours lately, and im a NEET.
Adrian Brown
I'm NEET with no alarm and I usually wake up naturally after about 8-9 hours. Any less than 7 or any more than 10 and I'm gonna be dragging all day.
Ryder Lee
holy shit you're a mess
Daniel Adams
having gone through airforce boot, only getting 6 hours of sleep a day, (occassionally 4) i can tell you without a doubt that literally no one could function at 100% on this schedule even at the very end.
2 months is more than enough time for the body to acclimate but no one ever did. People made stupid mistakes they wouldn't have otherwise, kept dropping dead asleep whenever we were rarely sitting down (usually in our 'classes'), and all kinds of other shit like mild cases of hysteria and even violence.
Humans do not naturally work on 6 hours of sleep and never have. Given that humans are not nocturnal creatures, like most mammals, they're designed to sleep throughout the night where there is no sunlight, which is approximately 8 hours+.
the 6 hour meme is bullshit.
Ryan Gutierrez
Wow I started doing the eye mask thing awhile ago randomly. Interesting to see anothether randy Andy purport its benefits which I have never heard of before
Carson Ramirez
The optimal amount of sleep is 23 hours.
Anthony Lee
are you a cat?
Jason Hernandez
The needed amount of sleep hours varies from person to person. 8hrs is just an average, and also has connections to the early socialist idea of 8 hrs work, leisure and sleep. It's just a meme at this point.
Gavin Hall
I went to bed at 9pm and woke up at 7am naturally
Jordan Lee
I wish.
Christian King
Humans only need 1 hour of sleep goy
Andrew Carter
You're probably underage that's why
David Foster
I don't think I've ever gotten more than 5 hours in one sleep session. Most nights if I'm lucky I can sleep 4-ish, be fully awake for a half hour, then get another 3.
For me to stay down longer than that I have to be inebriated with sleep aids or alcohol, but then it isn't restful so I wouldn't call it sleep.
It's hard for me to believe anybody can actually stay asleep 8+ hours since I've literally never experienced such a thing and everyone I've ever spent a night with has gotten up in the middle of the night at some point
Robert Ramirez
Eat more. Food is sleep, and sleep is food.
Hudson Campbell
I can't say for sure. I got lonely though, because I don't meet any people other than my mother. I cut off all friends from university and my former co-workers, now I'm kind of scared to approach any of them again and currently I don't feel like it either. I thought about getting a pet, but it's difficult in the middle of a city, so I didn't decide yet. I developed anxiety, so I don't feel safe entering the job market again. I never had to go through interviews, because I got the job through my master thesis. The thought about applying to jobs makes me incredibly anxious now. I can see myself moving away to the countryside, but my mother lived in her current house for all of her life (she inherited it from her father), so I didn't pitch this topic yet. I wouldn't want to increase the distance between us by a lot. Recently I try to get myself motivated to work out again like I used to back when I was still at university and meet people at the gym, but I didn't make it yet. I honestly don't do anything interesting. I read books and newspapers, play chess online, watch documentaries online and browse the internet. The last time I left the country was during my master thesis, but that was to Switzerland. The last time I left Europe (Egypt with my family) was just before I had to do mandatory military service. I really dislike travelling, so I can't see myself travelling any time soon. I developed the idea of moving to the countryside and have a garden and a dog, but that's not going to happen any time soon. I kind of want to learn some kind of craftsmanship as hobby or potentially even as a job, instead of working all day before a desk like I used to. That's distant future though.
Landon Stewart
I slept for 15 hours straight two nights ago but I had just come off a two week down at the mines and had been working 12 hours a day for that 2 week stretch. Only happens once in a blue moon when I'm really sick though.
Insomniac here. It's actually less. The biological minimum is around 4.5 hours per 24 hour cycle. HOWEVER, you can accumulate "sleep debt" and pay it off by sleeping later. In other words, you can totally just stay up for days at a time and make up for it by sleeping a lot on the weekends. There's also naps, intermittent and polyphasic sleep, and even microsleep. You can for all practical purposes just run nonstop with naps. Will you suffer? Oh, yeah. But 8 hours isn't necessary.
Aaron Phillips
I slept for 10 when I was a teenager, now I sleep for 2-6 hours a night and it's enough
Connor Barnes
And you type like a lazy goyslave retard so thanks for reaffirming OP
Jordan Price
You can never pay off sleep debt.
Ian Moore
Funny you mention that because you only get like 5-10 minutes to eat which meant despite getting plenty of food most people couldn't finish even half of it.
Some people had to pretty much outright skip eating, maybe take a bite or two.
Shit was really fucked up when i went in, critical lack of MTIs, schedule was fucked, honestly it needs to be stretched out by a week or two.
Sebastian Clark
>learn some kind of craftsmanship as hobby or potentially even as a job That could be cool. Do you want kids/family?
Leo Lee
Your diet is probably fucked m8
Jayden Morales
If I get 12 hours of sleep I feel like actual shit.
I feel good with about 6 or 7 hours.
Camden Reed
Humans actually don't require even as much as 8. In fact you can easily survive not sleeping at all for a week or two, then sleep for ~20 hours and you'll be fine as our brain can turn off parts of itself if they aren't used at this particular moment to let them "sleep" while you're doing something.
Jason Campbell
When I was a teen, I slept for like 5, if that. Lots of all-nighters, energy drinks, and a strict nap schedule. 20 in first period. 20 in 4th period. 10 at lunch, sometimes. 2-hour nap when I got home if I didn't have work, then TF2 and Jow Forums all night until like 1, then another nap for like an hour, and maybe a quick one before sunrise. I'm short as fuck.
Wyatt Gonzalez
OP should sleep 24 hours a day 6 feet underground
Mason Lopez
Oysters got shit tons of zinc and might be the best form to absorb zinc into your bloodstream.
Gavin Butler
Only because Jews print sleep and lend it out to the government with interest.
Can confirm. Microsleep. It's how you can keep walking and performing tasks 3 days in on no sleep.
Evan Perez
I HATE NIGGERS SO MUCH ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY
Adam Robinson
Total myth. I used to sleep my life away in my teens but have been requiring less & less. Now my body simply will NOT allow me to sleep more than 7 hours. If I do, I feel like absolute shit & I'll likely wake up with a migraine.
You're not a baby. Stop sleeping your life away.
Julian Bennett
Not that user but I echo the 7-8 hour minimum and I seriously fucking doubt most 4-6 hour normies in the US have a much better diet.
Camden Perez
Yeah, combination of malnutrition, hard physical training, and sleep deprivation doesnt work. My first pipeline job I was doing great on exactly 4 hours of sleep, but I was eating 7k-11k calories a day to make up for the sleep and working 12-14 hours, then going to the gym for 4 hours a night (long rests between sets to focus on heavy weight and also had no life because I was out of town)
William Rogers
I'm 6 foot tall, sad thing is that's still short for serbia
Jayden Bell
It might be a bit more than 8 but certainly not 12. When I go to sleep without setting an alarm I usually sleep for 9 to 10 hours before waking up. I couldn't get myself to sleep 12 or more, even if I wanted.
Luis Anderson
7.5 hours normally, 9 hours for recovery sleep.
James Thomas
I wasn't planning to at first. There was this social guideline, I had in mind before, of working for at least 6-7 years before even planning a family that I could support myself. Over the last months I increasingly want to have an own family, but I can't see myself supporting one emotionally and I can't see myself going into dating currently either. I wouldn't know where to approach anyone. I met the only 2 former girlfriends I had through classes in school and university, but neither relationship worked out. That's also why I want to work out again. Firstly to gain more confidence and secondly to have the opportunity to meet someone. I can't see myself using dating apps or going to bars/clubs. I was never this type of person and it would feel awkward and artificial to me.
Cooper Carter
This has probably already been said but I'm not reading the thread. Younger people need more sleep. All throughout high school and my first year at college I needed 9-10 hours of sleep to feel good. If I got less than that I felt like shit and, at the time, I couldnt imagine how people functioned on less. As I got into my early 20s I started naturally waking up refreshed after 8 hours of sleep, and now at 25 I naturally sleep 7 hours a night. My dad is a boomer and only needs 6 hours of sleep, he says he cant stay in bed past 5:30-6am anymore.
Jacob Bell
Proverbs was written by Jews user. Only the New Testament should be followed
James Bennett
This. If I sleep more than 6 I wake up groggy but less than 4 and I’m still pretty tired.
Matthew Sullivan
I practice free running sleep unless I have to keep an appointment with a normie. I usually need 9 hours but then I stay awake for longer than 15 hours.
Brayden Carter
Anything less than 9 hours is a fucking meme study
Parker Taylor
Do any anons have non-24 circadian rhythm? I worked the overnight shift years ago, but now my sleep schedule is constantly out of whack & every day my body wants to stay up about an hour or two later than the previous day. It keeps going like this until day is night/night is day, taking about 2-3 weeks to complete the cycle.
Even peer reviewed studies can be faked. There's was a famous example just in the last couple years where a few dudes and a chick faked dog rape studies and also changed mein Kampf a little and both got published. One even made it into a "25th anniversary best of" collection.
You can't trust something just cause there's studies, you allow gotta come to you're own conclusions
David Gray
Dating apps are complete garbage. Yeah you've had a huge adjustment just recently so my guess if you'll be busy building a new type of life for yourself before being ready to have a family. Working out and getting in shape sounds like a good idea. Of course nofap is also very very good for you.
Jonathan Carter
No but recently I can’t sleep through the night at all. Ive tried staying up all night and that doesnt even help, I usually fall asleep between 9-12 and then. Wake up around 1-4 and am awake until 6-10 and then sleep for another 5 hours after that. Its fucking annoying and only happens at my house. When I stay the night at my sisters or when I stayed the night at my ex’s it doesnt happen.
Nathaniel Bell
this, someone link study where eating white male shit makes you smarter
Camden Davis
I was just going to post about that. I have a roughly 28-30 hour cycle. I honestly believe it is some ancient aliens type shit and we have DNA from a different solar system.
One of that hardest things for me is getting to bed and getting up for work. It is the only thing I worry about because I am really good at my job, PROVIDED I GET THERE.
Lucas Morgan
I sometimes wonder if its the comfort of my house too. Like if I took an extended stay somewhere for a month with no curtain blinds or anything, I bet I could get myself straight.
There's drugs for non-24 (that usually effect the blind) but I really dont wanna go that route.
John Jones
>when you black out 3 days into not sleeping and wake up in your bed with the car parked and undamaged in your driveway 14 miles from where you blacked out on the road >when you're so sleep-deprived that your daydreams actually become really vivid and overtake your waking experience and you realize that's just dreaming but somehow your hands and feet and mouth just ran on autopilot and you stayed standing >when you nod off for 2 seconds and instead of letting you fall asleep your body spikes your adrenaline and you suddenly feel alert >when you go on a walk sleep-deprived and your body sorta just walks for an hour or 10 while your brain sleeps >when your hands dodge that truck or catch that falling phone but your brain is asleep >when you start hallucinating >when your eyes just go on autopilot and let you watch TV or play emulators while your brain sleeps for a few hours and it actually rests you >when you just sit and close your eyes for 15 minutes without sleeping but still feel rested >when you finally go to bed after being up for days and sleep for 4 hours, and your body's like, "WAKEY WAKEY MOTHERFUCKER" and you can't go back to sleep
Jonathan Lee
Careful, dont get that farmed shit from Asia tho. They're filled with all sorts of metals n toxins
Zachary Wright
The worst is when I know I need to get up for work or school or work or some shit, and instead of actually getting up, I just start dreaming that I got up and am getting ready.
Alexander Rivera
Ice Poseidon is a faggot and so are you for watching him
Logan Harris
I sleep 5 hours, sometimes 3, you're not using as much energy as you think you are, you're just weak.
Chase Scott
Its annoying but kinda cool depending on where the cycle is. Its comfy as fuck waking at around 4am fully rested drinking coffee, doing the stuff around the house that needs done & watching the sun rise before most people are awake. I even go grocery shopping sometimes.
How are you coping with it? I work from home now, but when I had a normie job it was hell. Many days of rolling in with little to no sleep. It'd be mid day & my body would think it was time to crash.
Ian Turner
Based
Carson Jenkins
stop doing amphetamines
Landon Morgan
I do 25 - 26 hour days with 8 hr max sleep. Totally fucked but I can't sleep unless I'm really tired.
Cooper Brown
I don't.
Aiden Williams
I have no idea either I’ve just noticed a pattern to where I can at least sleep 6 hours when I’m not home.
Ethan Clark
you just do what you can. Really loud alarm clocks and lots of alcohol after work. It's super stressful.
I am working nights now and it's better because the wife and kids are awake so they make sure i get up for work no matter what
