one really cool thing i've seen in watching the videos is how they will swap with each other to get certain brands directly from a store in that area because of the "flavor" it takes on sitting in the laundry aisle, versus from an online supplier because they (presumably) don't take on any of the aroma or taste of the things surrounding them because (presumably) they are stored in a warehouse or somewhere without other scents to take on.
it's a REALLY fascinating community that my friends and i have become really interested in researching and learning about more, especially because it effects the health of black women and because we have friends and family who have or are still eating starch as a hobby. i also think they choose starch because it's easy to get, cheap, and has an interesting mouthfeel? like the way it turns into oobleck with liquid (saliva) added and the squeak of it is something the ladies talk about a lot too.
