Genetically much of Turkey isn't actually Turkic. Anatolia (the region that constitutes almost all of modern Turkey) was for centuries colonized by Greeks, Romans and before that even Gauls (Western Europeans from modern day France) settled the Anatolian interior. That there are sections of the Turkish population that are genetically mostly European shouldn't surprise anyone.

Some are, others aren't. They have many muslim slavs who fled to Turkey after the collapse of the Ottoman empire and in general it varies a lot regionally. The west is supposedly more european.
