Speaking strictly in the short term, will an economic depression or recession make wars (not between america, china or russia but proxy wars) more or less likely? I am basically wondering whether the 2020~ economic crisis will cause a global meltdown immediately or only in the long run.

>Jihadist special forces carry out operation behind Syrian Army lines, several soldiers killed BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 P.M.) – The jihadist special forces, Inghimasi, carried out a new operation on Monday that targeted a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) post near the front-lines in northeastern Latakia.
According to reports, the Inghimasi fighters snuck behind the Syrian Arab Army’s lines at Tal Rasho, killing and wounding several soldiers in the process.A Syrian military source could not confirm the total number killed, but said the estimates are between 15-20 soldiers killed as a result of this Ighimasi attack.
This latest attack by the special forces division of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham comes at the same time the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies prepare to storm the key town of Kabani in northeastern Latakia.
The Syrian Arab Army has already captured the two heights at the southern slope of the Al-Zuwayqat Mountain; they will now need to secure the southern part of Kabani in order to possibly take the town within the next few days.

The point was to pressure Congress & Trump. Money well spent. The lad deserves it for that fundraising campaign.
Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army seized two more towns this afternoon following an intense battle with the jihadist rebels.According to a military source near the front-lines, the Syrian Arab Army took control of Al-Tobeh and Sheikh Idris after launching a swift attack from the Kafr Naboudeh area.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army has now secured the western axis of Kafr Naboudeh, leaving only the northern and eastern flanks left in danger.
The Syrian Arab Army will likely shift their attention to the key hilltop of Tal Sakher and the nearby town of Al-Hobeit as they work to fully seucure the northwestern axis of the Hama Governorate.
If they are successful, the Syrian Arab Army will only have a few sites left to capture in Hama before the entire governorate is under their control.
Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army captured three towns from the jihadist rebels along the Idlib-Hama axis; these included Tal Hawash, Hawash, and Al-Jabriyah.
According to the source, the jihadist rebels fired rocket propelled grenades (RPG) and artillery shells into Al-Sqaylabiyeh, hitting a number of homes in the predominately Antiochian Orthodox city.On Sunday, the jihadist rebels launched an identical attack that killed six people, including five children.
The Christian city has long been targeted the jihadist rebels because of their resistance to their attacks.
Al-Sqaylabiyeh is home to one of the most powerful units from the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the ISIS Hunters.
During the jihadist offensive in northwestern Hama in 2014, Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) repeatedly tried to capture Al-Sqaylabiyeh and the nearby Christian city of Mhardeh; however, the locals fought off all of their attacks.
Al-Sqaylabiyeh is also home to a large number of displaced civilians from the Hama and Idlib governorates; they fled to the city to escape the violence taking place in and around their homes.

>Breaking: Syrian Army captures 3 towns in northwestern Hama mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/breaking-syrian-army-captures-3-towns-in-northwestern-hama/ BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 A.M.) – Minutes ago, a source from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) told Al-Masdar that the Tiger Forces had captured three towns from the jihadist rebels in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army imposed full control over the towns of Hawash, Tal Hawash, and Al-Jabriyah after a brief battle with the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front. The source said the Syrian Army briefly held Tal Hawash a few days ago, but they were ultimately forced to withdraw after a swift counter-attack by the jihadist rebels.
The Syrian Arab Army and their allies are now working to secure the northwestern axis of the Hama Governorate.
With these three towns under their control, the Syrian Army will likely shift their attention to the large hilltop of Tal Sakher, which is needed to secure the imperative town of Kafr Naboudeh.
Kafr Naboudeh, along with several other areas, was captured by the Syrian Arab Army and their allies last Wednesday; however, despite taking control of the town, they have faced heavy attacks from the jihadist rebels who are determined to retake their lost territories in northwestern Hama

>Israel warns Iran may attack them if stand-off with US escalates BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:45 A.M.) – An Israeli cabinet member warned on Sunday that Iran may directly or indirectly attack Israel should the ongoing stand-off between the U.S. and the Persian Gulf nation escalate.
Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said on Sunday that “things are heating up” in the Persian Gulf after U.S. President Donald Trump increased its economic and military pressure on Iran.“If there’s some sort of conflagration between Iran and the United States, between Iran and its neighbors, I’m not ruling out that they will activate Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad from Gaza, or even that they will try to fire missiles from Iran at the State of Israel,” Steinitz, a member of Netanyahu’s security cabinet, told Israel’s Ynet TV.
Trump, who recently urged Iran’s leadership to speak to him, demanded on Thursday that the Persian Gulf nation give up their nuclear program, adding that he has not ruled out a direct military confrontation.
The U.S. President has remained a staunch ally of Israel throughout his presidency, often taking different steps to strengthen ties between the two nation.
Israel views Iran as their biggest threat in the Middle East and has gone as far as attacking the latter’s forces and proxies inside of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

>British forces searching for Al-Baghdadi in Libya mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/british-forces-searching-for-al-baghdadi-in-libya/ BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:40 A.M.) – The infamous leader of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh), Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, is possibly hiding out in Libya after losing his so-called ‘caliphate’ in Syria and Iraq, The Daily Express said on Sunday.
According to the publication, the British Royal Air Force is currently searching for the terrorist leader throughout the North African nation. The report said British fighter jets, along with aircraft operated by Italian and US militaries, were carrying out round-the-clock sorties in search of the ABB, the code name being used to identify Baghdadi as a target. It said anyone killing or capturing the Daesh leader would receive $25million (£19million) as a bounty on his head.
The RAF jets are being scrambled from Waddington in Lincolnshire, in eastern England, to collate signals and intelligence on individuals and groups who might support the 48-year-old Daesh leader.
The British authorities allege that they have some ‘reliable’ intelligence that the Daesh chief has escaped Baghouz in eastern Syria and moved on to Libya.
“It is reliable intel, but it needs to be verified,” said a military source, adding, “the air component operation is delivering high-grade intelligence and we can map names and groups to people we known that have been or are part of ABB’s inner circle.”

The "Upcoming" invasion is already delayed for like almost a year. It might get delayed for 1-2 more, considering the low amount of bloodshed in Venezuela.
Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, who has repeatedly tried to sell themselves as a ‘moderate’ rebel group, is currently participating in the ongoing battle for the northwestern countryside of the Hama.Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham recently deployed a large number of their fighters from the Afrin region to the Idlib-Hama axis, where they are trying to help their comrades regain the initiative after losing several towns, including Qal’at Al-Madiq and Kafr Naboudeh.
In addition to releasing their beheading video, a group of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham fighters were filmed vowing to behead more Syrian Army soldiers:

Nothing explicit since Trump but you know that if Russia had their way conflicts such as georgia, ukraine, syria, libya would be completely resolved. Guaido would be in exile by now in all likelihood. The market is much more inflated and has been in a rally for much longer than before 2007. In reality the economic situation is much weaker so the recession itself will likely be far bigger than 2008. Even if it was the same in its severity, 2008 knocked the US from the global hegemon to a competing superpower, another economic crisis could knock America down to a "fight or die" type situation. Similar to how videla invaded the falklands to try and keep a grip on power through any economic means, for example.
