It has to do a lot with how Steam and other similar services created an immediate supply chain for games. Because of that, selling "pieces of games" as DL add-ons to an existing game became a big profit-maker. That sucks because some of those DL add-ons sold for another $30 look more like they were originally an intended part of the original game that simply was sliced off to be sold separately. It should have been a part of the original game package to begin with. But the game company decided to milk the game fans.

I did not come here to do otherwise. I refuse to pay for their crap products or to pay for the companies to pander to my interest. The companies making the trash are not worth supporting and I will either find other sources of entertainment or wait until other companies come along. I will happily pay for a good product from newly formed companies that will produce good products.

All in all it does not matter as all of that is merely entertainment and not something I personally care for. You act like you have a gotcha but really you are only stating a very well known reality that industries lose customers and the customers will never return because the industries change too much to attract their original customer base.
