There's a lot of research showing the conservatives tend to respond more to fear and exhibit fear based thinking. You can see in politics how easy it is to influence conservatives simply by fear mongering. If you look at places like Jow Forums, you see a lot of outrage media over scary things like immigrants, trans people, all guns being taken away, conspiracies, etc. These often aren't just moderate concerns they are often full blown outrage and paranoia.

There is actually a difference in brain structure and it is believed that the liberal mind is a newer evolutionary adaptation that came about around the time humans started forming agrarian societies and settling down around crops and villages.

Prior to this, the conservative phenotype dominated. Humans were tribal existing in tight little nomadic tribes, out in the wild vulnerable and reasonably skeptical of outiders and danger.

It took the liberal mind to be able to synthesize larger communities around these new village like lifestyles that emerged when humans started settling down and farming. Suddenly you have multiple villages and then trading, tribe to tribe (village to village) relations, etc.
