Walmart pickup is kind of a ripoff. Half the shit they have in stores is entered as Out of Stock for pickup, even when you can walk in and see an entire aisle of the stuff. Still very convenient though. Also has the most civilized black friday system I've seen.
Because they can afford to buy at small shops that need to have a larger marign to sustain themselves. Look at me i support local blabla, what they actually mean is look i can buy at more expensive places, It also helps them shame others who don't have enough money or don't care. Plus rich people pay extra for an experience most expensive brands are not worthwhatthey're made of or their quality. They offer a experience i.e. very decorated store extra personnel for more assistance exclusitvity. I don't think you'll find any of these at Wallmart, add the previous reasons of prestige and you have your reasons.

I like Walmart well enough. Supermarkets typically have better prices available, because they so often have items on discount. The supermarkets make that up be marking up other items hugely. Over time, you get a feel for which items are best purchased at which locations, and you can do quite well as a result.
Also, if you live in the right area, Walmart clearance items can be excellent. (Beats amazon discounts by far, etc.) I have a stash of Lego set aside for my own kids birthdays, and their friends' birthdays. All bought for around a third of the typical price. Holiday items are a tenth of the cost when the holiday is done. So buying a year ahead there saves a bundle.
My local Walmart is clean, quiet, and pretty organized. I've been to disastrous ones, though. Anywhere near Miami or Orlando is an absolute zoo, even at 11pm.

Target is far more expensive and their quality isn't significantly better. I don't buy clothes or shoes there anymore because they fail within a season. They're selling a brand rather than products. Their smug angle is comparable to Apple and Volkswagen.
Target has transfreak bathrooms and I am a young trad wife with twin babies. Plus their food is rotten half the time and they are way more expensive.

I shop at a local hippy food co-op for fresh ingredients and Walmart for canned and dry. Walmart has organic products for cheap. They’re decent quality. I like to eat clean and not waste a ton of money.
