My opinion is that abortion should only be acceptable in cases of rape or when the mother's life is at risk. Pregnancy can be hell on a woman's body and her psyche. If she chooses to have sex, she chooses to take on that risk and she has no legitimate right to terminate the life inside her for her own comfort or convenience; she should have considered that before she chose to have sex. In the case of rape, however, she did not CHOOSE to have sex, so she should not be forced to live with the consequences of that act nor to carry the offspring of her rapist. In the case where the woman's life is a risk, this puts us in the unfortunate position of having to choose between one life and another. I choose the mother in that case, because she is already a functioning member of society and she has the ability to reproduce further and create more children. The child cannot create a new mother. It's a dirty choice but it has to be made.
