Even in the shittiest parts of the country, people are loyal and grateful to the government for the economic growth and improved quality of life they've experienced over the past couple of decades. Even when living in conditions much lower than that of western countries, they trust their leadership and believe the country is continuing to get better. The generations today, 30+, all have seen their lives completely transform and have very little willingness to make trouble and challenge the status quo.

New generations are growing up in comfort and so they will lack this same loyalty based on economic rewards. If the economy continues to slow and wages stagnate, there will be pushes for more government assistance programmes, e.g. to help people buy homes, assist with rent, etc., and possibly even a welfare state. If these aren't delivered, dissatisfaction could grow. So it's possible that things won't go so smoothly in the future, but even if they don't, China still has one of the most united, nationalistic, patriotic populations of any country. They're taught from a very young age to love their country and associate the party directly with their nation. Even newer generations will grow up with this, and they're also cut off from external culture. They do not hear any dissenting opinions, and have skipped the western style 'culture war', for instance. So even if things get rocky economically, the youth will probably not make any challenge.

Compare this to the west where everyone hates each other and their government. Doesn't look good, to be honest.
