The Other Empire being the German 4th Reich which has become corrupted after it's hundreds of years of existence, a young soldier named Reinhard raised in this German Empire essentially dreams of destroying the corrupted empire and remaking it as the 5th Reich and implanting a Fascist state. The other main character is a democracy loving Yang who is a national hero but refuses to lead a revolt and take over the corrupted democracy as it is against his principles but he is slowly pushed in this direction throughout the show.
Death Note: Just a great anime but take a few episodes to get started, at the start it just seems like another anime but it is a masterpiece. When one of the major characters die stop watching it goes to shit.
Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade: It's free on youtube and is a movie about a post WW2 Japan that Germany won in (from memory) and there are many warring party's in the Japanese government for dominance. Just utterly great.
