Legalizing marijuana

How can anybody promote mental illness? Is it ignorance or pure indifference that make people willingly ingest a plant that induces madness?

Fun fact: the CB1 receptor that is responsible for the feeling of being high also emulates schizophrenia.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4034083/
>Cannabinoid intoxication can provoke toxic psychoses or symptoms similar to the positive symptoms of schizophrenia
>cannabis seems to provoke an amotivational syndrome similar to the negative symptoms of schizophrenia
>In humans, mounting evidence shows that CB1 receptor densities are altered in schizophrenia

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3138655/
>Our finding of increased CB1R binding in paranoid SCZ could reflect a greater involvement of the endocannabinoid system in the DLPFC in this subtype of patients with SCZ as may be suggested by their more marked positive thought disorders and delusional symptoms.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4104335/
>We provide evidence that regular cannabis use is associated with gray matter volume reduction in the medial temporal cortex, temporal pole, parahippocampal gyrus, insula, and orbitofrontal cortex; these regions are rich in cannabinoid CB1 receptors and functionally associated with motivational, emotional, and affective processing.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2424288/
>The strongest evidence that cannabis use is a contributory cause of schizophrenia comes from longitudinal studies of large representative samples of the population who have been followed over time to see if cannabis users are at higher risk of developing schizophrenia.
>15-year prospective investigation of cannabis use and schizophrenia in 50,465 Swedish conscripts. The study found that those who had tried cannabis by age 18 were 2.4 times more likely to be diagnosed with schizophrenia than those who had not 16 and the risk of this diagnosis increased with the frequency of cannabis use.
>27-year follow-up of the Swedish cohort that also found a dose-response relationship between frequency of cannabis use at baseline and risk of schizophrenia during the follow-up. The relationship between cannabis use and schizophrenia persisted when the authors statistically controlled for the effects of other drug use and other potential confounding factors, including a history of psychiatric symptoms at baseline.
>supported in a three-year longitudinal study of the relationship between self-reported cannabis use and psychosis in a community sample of 4,848 people in the Netherlands
>These findings have been replicated in one German and two New Zealand cohort studies.

drugabuse.gov/news-events/nida-notes/2016/09/regular-marijuana-use-associated-differences-in-brain-gray-matter-connectivity
>A NIDA-funded brain imaging study has shown that regular users of marijuana have less gray matter than nonusers of the drugin the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), a brain region that contributes to impulse control, decision-making, and learning. Such a deficit could make it more difficult to change counterproductive behaviors, including drug use.

Vaping CPD doesnt cause people to be schizo, I avoid marijuana because jt makes me trip. Regular use of it isn’t good. I don’t think schizophrenia is entirely real, its a culturally subjective phenomena, but its not good to behave schizo in public

I don’t feel too strongly about it one way or the other but I often wonder if a breakthrough or formulation was created that contained all the health benefits stoners go on and on about BUT didn’t get you high at all, like sober as popping an Advil would they find it as appealing? Would they agree to have that formulation legalized but not what’s available now? If it’s about the medicinal properties not the high than there shouldn’t be an issue with that I’d think

Then*

Marijuana turns you into a sloth. Shrunken and dilapidated brain.

I'm a neurologist with a specialization in narcotics and dangerous drug. Weed is fine, as long as you don't take it before 24-26~
Anything earlier can do permanent damage but unless you're smoking nonstop every day I doubt it would be significant enough for anyone but a specialist to notice a difference in comparison.
Just learning shit online with little direction isn't sufficient to meet the requirements of a specialist, you need years of education to properly understand a lot of this and what you're basically doing is fear-mongering.

Yesterday i tried to change my bike's rear wheel while being sober and fucked up badly. After taking a hit i fixed it in 10 minutes.

I just don't care what other people choose to ingest. If they want to smoke dope until they fry their brain, whatever.

ncbi is some slanted as, kike controlled propaganda bullshit. Good luck with that.

bait 4 newfags

Now to sit back and enjoy.

I say let the cream of the crop rise. Legalize all drugs, let the people who can take advantage of them properly use them and those who die, well, will die. Most of the hardcore users will never pass on their genetics while weed, nicotine, booze, and caffeine take us to the stars. Probably some adderall and meth in there for that national socialistic flair.

I started smoking at 23 and due to pre-existing mental issues I fell into an extremely heavy depression and from there on it escalated to a temporary psychosis-like state due to a traumatic experience that happened on top of that. It was temporary and I recovered but to my feeling I'm still left with damaged 'nerves' as in related to my psyche. I'm very sensitive and prone to frustration and anger and heavy heavy depression.
What happened to me and more importantly, what can I do to make it better or cure it?

Why do schizophrenia rates not correlate to the rises and falls in cannabis usage rates? independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/cannabis-use-schizophrenia-no-evidence-weed-marijuana-smoking-study-psychotic-problems-a8273956.html

Used to smoke a lot of weed every day. My life is better without it.
It's not for everyone...if people want to smoke it, that's fine with me. I just decided I did not like/need it in my life anymore.

The traumatic experience has to be undone, while weed didn't help, it was only an intensifier for the damage done at that point. Meditation on the self and why you get so frustrated and angry seems your best bet. Fuck psychs, mostly.

Fuck degeneracy. Bring back alcohol prohibition, keep weed illegal. How is this so hard?

>not reveling in various substances in order to suppress your mind crushing depression

Freedom hater.

But am I really still affected by the traumatic experience when it doesn't actually phase me anymore? I feel like I'm left with the consequences of being in a state of extreme fear and panic. But I can deal with the memory.
What do you mean with 'fuck psychs'? By the way, are you the neurologist I replied to someone else?

damn i don't know how to link boards

Are you fucking retarded?

...

Shut up. Nobody gives a shit. Why do burgers think their lives are reality shows that anyone gives a fuck about?

Only reason I am for the legalizing of marijuana is because alcohol is still legal same with tobacco.

If you're going to get rid of marijuana, get rid of tobacco and alcohol as well. They're all terrible for human health.

He's right, through. Put down the bong, you deadbeat.

Not sure what you mean but no, not the neurologist. Pyschs are a cheap way to facilitate a problem solver who does not understand your condition fully. It is only yourself who can undue the extreme fear and panic you describe. Through probing analysis, painful realization, and forming an understanding of the event, that's the general path.

Let me rephrase that. What do you mean with 'psychs'? Psychiatrists? Psychiatric medicine? Psychotherapy?

What if I say that I already do understand the event and analyzed and understood it completely. But the physical/neurological problems didn't go away. It's like weed messed up my psyche/nerve system.

>the CB1 receptor that is responsible for the feeling of being high also emulates schizophrenia.

No surprise here, certain strains have induced paranoia in me which results in a mental battle to convince myself the things i'm imagining are not real.

>dude weed lmao

That's why stoners are retarded. They think it's just like breathing air.
