Don't quote me on this, but isn't the USA going with mmwave 5G or something, to try and avoid military interference, while the rest of the world is using a different (safer) 5G tech, but which will interfere with current USA military comms overseas?

The idea is that most devices will be "dumb" devices streaming from the "cloud". The whole internet of things meme is going to be on 5G. It will be set up like a mesh network surrounding a local node.

I read an article the other day about how the FCC is getting ready to auction off more 5G bands and NOAA is trying to stop them because it will interfere with weather instruments. They said it reduce the accuracy of weather predictions by over 30 percent and only give 3 days preparedness for hurricanes instead of the current 7 days.

Will 5G make everyone more likely to get cancer and tumours, and decrease fertility rates? Probably, but so does breathing in exhaust fumes, eating junk food, and drinking alcohol, and that doesn't seem to stop all of those things.
