Said video has now surfaced, the party leader has resigned, the coalition government has dissolved and in autumn there are going to be new elections.
>Why should I care? Are they /our/guys? The FPÖ is the closest to an anti-immigration, anti-EU, anti-globalism and anti-Muslim party you can find in Austria. They openly speak about things like "replacement-migration", have reduced gibs for "refugees", have increased deportations immensely, forbidden head-scarves for children and were on the way to make many more changes Jow Forums would approve of. Like lowering taxes or reducing immigration.
>What's next? Due to this scandal votes for the FPÖ are expected to drop. In the last elections the FPÖ got 26% of votes, newest polls see them dropping to 18%. Inn return the cuckservative ÖVP rose from 32% to 38%. It certainly will impact the Austrian part of the EU-elections and thus weaken Salvinis right-wing alliance. Domestically the FPÖ is expected to not be part of any government for the next years. So many of their core ideas, like limiting immigration, reversing the Islamification of Austria, deporting of illegals and increasing birthrates will go unattended.

Depends on how the party is structured. Our social democrat party is led first of all by the head of the party and second of all by the veterans, common members have no say in anythng unless they become the head's favorites or something. The party does have a pretty based guy among the veterans, but since the head always elects their successor themselves then he doesn't really stand a chance for getting the position.

So basically the situation is as follows: With the FPÖ leaving the government, the ÖVP is now short some ministers, as well as a majority in the parliament. Kurz plan was to appoint experts or civil servants into the missing secretary posts and basically do nothing till the new elections. However: Parliament can at every time (with enough votes) say they mistrust the chancellor/the government. If this succeeds, the president has to elect a new chancellor/government. This would make Austria even more chaotic for the next months as well as do massive image damage to Kurz.
