There's a fair bit of misunderstanding regarding these 'weapons sweeps'. The police are not knocking on doors confiscating screwdrivers and scissors, they search an area for potential weapons that have been stashed somewhere on the streets.

there's a lot of misconceptions about us in America that I see when Syxx starts talking about UK politics. He gets a lot wrong but doesn't realise it.
Don't get me wrong there's a big problem with an ever growing Muslim population who the police are scared of already, and who politicians don't want to offend to try and get their votes, so they have an over protection and a growing political influence due to numbers.
Feminism is also a major problem, or I should say the constant over promotion of women in the media, because advertisers target women because they generally do the shopping and are easily manipulated by marketing, plus they watch more TV so they're the main audience watching the shows that the advertisers sponsor. Men and our issues are constantly ignored, despite the suicide issue that never gets talked about because women don't care about it.
there's also the chav problem, council estates (cheap government housing) are (in)breeding grounds for generation after generation of scum that lives on a steady diet government handouts and drugs, and outbreed the rest of us because having kids is a legitimate alternative to working for them.

If we're actually going to talk about this seriously let's get into it. The constant surviellance and 1984-tier adverts/tweets/etc that are posted here are done because there's not enough law enforcement and they don't have a lot of force projection/power anyway. Ongoing cuts and lack of political willpower have forced police forces and other areas such as TV licensing to use mind games to try and force people to behave properly. Next postwar UK ushered in the welfare state and for the most part has had a long period of peace and overall prosperity. This has led the populace to not care generally as long as government decisions don't hit the golden cows of the NHS, house prices and pensions. However, this means that when shit starts to get rough enough it's going to go badly for everyone. Also at this point everyone agrees that multiculturalism is a massive failure and problems regarding it are only going to get worse.
The people pushing this stuff through, if you take it purely from what action a normal person can take, is the "Conservative" Party. This is the biggest problem at the moment, since all these insane policies get pushed through by the people you vote for to stop them. The tabloids and TV dont pick up on this, and they continue to attack or support the Conservatives as right-wing. Because of that they maintain the support of the actually conservative voters and they never get punished for doing any of this.
Specifically on the knives thing the police go fairly uncritisized, unless its being accused of racism, and any increase in crime is linked to budget cuts instead of police policy. I only ever see the stupid weapon sweeps on Jow Forums any nowhere else, and if the tabloids aren't picking up on it might as well not happen at all as far as anyone else cares.
