What is religion but an axiomatic system? It proclaims "truths" you accept by "believing". They are true for you, and the other people in your group. I would never dare to argue against those "truths", since there is no point. You believe in them, so they are true for you. If they are factual, is a completely different question.
Math could also be seen as a religion, an extremely helpful religion, though.
Without "believing" the axioms of mathematics, 1+1 isn't 2.
