Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The most corrupt always make their way to the top of the highly centralized governments breed by collectivist states and then they use that absolute power to commit atrocities on a mass scale. Communism as an idea is unjust unless all you do is look at a select few of it's more shallow and easy to understand principles that honestly sound absolutely fantastic but only work on paper...until you realize each blessing comes with a pretty severe curse.

Except it does. People or even races the state decides it doesn't like are simply executed or exiled. If you speak opinions that are contrary to the state's opinions you are also killed or exiled as being problematic. Class disparity still exist, as any people in power will continue to live lives of privilege, while the common man lives poor.

The right move is to take the best of both worlds. Markets provide real utility in meeting changing wants and demands and creating competition/innovation.

However, unfettered capitalism produces class struggles and the profit motive in the hands of capitalists will always come at the expense of the majority. Crises will continually unfold. Externalities of production will continually be displaced in the pursuit of money. Our economy is now globalized and we're approaching automation of the basic laborer for millions and millions of jobs. We'll see domestic job markets continually shrink and be offloaded to developing countries.

So I think we need to socialize the labor force. Eliminate private corporations and transfer ownership to the workers, who vote on their management. Without shareholders and a board of directors to answer to, the company can focus on just meeting the demands of what they collectively see fit rather than just pursuing continually increasing quarterly profits.

Pay differentials can still exist, but they won't be as grossly exaggerated. Politicians would represent their constituents more heavily.
