In my High school at least it was the opposite. Maybe not far right, but most of the popular kids were firmly right wing. I teach high school at a massive diverse city school. The latinos and whites are all pretty annoyed by the super loud obnoxious and poorly behaved black students. When I have spoken to white students alone, and also latino students alone, conversation has slowly gravitated towards how much we aren't as annoyed at Trump and his policies as the media and PC police want us to be. The Latino students have surprised me at their consistent belief in a strong border and doing something about our immigration laws. People talk a certain way in public now, and the speak a different way in private. It's the same way in the voting booth.

Im not a teacher but my brother is, and he tells me the kids who are into social justice and whatnot are the outcast. But they are a larger group of outcasts.
