The reason why Salvation through works or ascention through Gnosis doesnt work.
You could have been deceived, however much that is. This small deception in the beginning can lead you to misinterpret every further bit of information you come across, and even that info may is fake itself which becomes the basis for further interpretations. As such its ridiculous to assume you can escape this place through knowledge when all of the knowledge you have could very be wrong and you may never know.
Similary trying to be saved through good deeds is futile as well. How can you be sure to know what good actually is? Certainly not all have the same concepts as appearently some think giving children hormones and cutting their dick off is something good, and I assume most people here do think this is bad. So how can you hope to be saved through deeds when you cant even know that the deeds you do are good or bad?
As such the only thing we can rely on is faith. Faith that we do know good from evil, faith that we do understand the commandments correctly, faith that even if we fall short on these things that we are still saved through the love of our Father.
