I have a comp sci degree and 5 years experience and have to work like a slave with forced deadlines and burnout barely making 65k/year.
But I can make 30/hr, $60,000 fucking up your fries and burger order? I'm quitting today and apply at McDonald's. And I'm going to drive Uber on the weekends and I'll be making 100k.
Unless you live somewhere with a really low cost of living, you should fight for a higher wage, user
Samuel Nelson
How can you even minimum wage rideshares?
Noah Garcia
Minimum wage should be replaced by collective bargaining

Can you put a good word in for me? I work outside for $25ph and would be the best frymaker you've ever seen for $30. I'd be the happiest fucking man in the world as I'm flipping those burgers, I'd have an ear to ear smile every second of my shift. Probably be singing and dancing and shit aswell.
Landon Allen
>Using new technology, rideshare app creates virtual free market economy in transportation industry thanks to ride sharing >Dumbass workers think they should be paid $30/hr. on a literally 100% flexible schedule >Uber and Lyft say, "Fuck off.", plenty of actually motivated workers show up to take up the slack as supply of cars goes down and fares go up >"Unions" bully remaining workers with threats/hatemongering

You are basically a woman. Women do not fight for raises or job hunt for higher salaries. You're content in your business and your company will treat you like shit if you let them. Have some self respect and stand up for yourself, weak fags like you are why corporate has been able to fuck over the IT industry. The sense that everyone is replaceable is prevalent, so make yourself irreplaceable.

This is... amazing. I can't believe they're going to do this. If they make this happen it would literally cause a financial crisis. I want this to happen it would be so awesome.

Uber still has yet to turn a profit in the five years they've been active. Aren't they like $5b in the hole atm? Also the CEO of McDonald's makes like a few million a year and if that was divided up, might raise the employees wages a few pennies. I don't know where the fuck they think this money is supposed to come from besides increasing the prices on consumers out the roof. I guess the dollar menu could become the ten dollar menu and Uber rides would start costing twice as much as a taxi cab.
Robert Gutierrez
How do working people live in California? The pay for a lot of jobs is the same as it is in states with a much lower cost of living. There's no way $15k or $20k is enough to live in California it's not even enough to live in the low C.O.L. states. So what do working class aka working poor Californians do?
Jeremiah Richardson
>he aloows his money to control his life instead of his life to control his money that's why all the younguns in america are fucking stupid.

They live with their parents, or they have to share a place with someone. People live in California because there's a lot of stuff to do there as opposed to living in bumbfuck Wyoming. You get a smaller place to live, but you're supposed to go outside everyday socially when you live in places like NYC, LA, & DC.

Dump on uber and long taxi services that were fucked over by venture capitalists.

If Tyrone can sing and dance while flipping that burger, let Tyrone dance. Morale boosters such as the occasional live entertainment have been shown to increase morale and thus productivity. If he can do that and not realize I'm benefiting, I'm not telling him.

Only user with a brain here. New "tech" companies are only able to stay afloat by selling shares and issue debt bonds until some larger company comes along and buys it thinking "OMG, what a value investment!!!" Stop contributing to your 401ks people, its a ponzi
Joseph Kelly
if the corporations don't give them a livable wage then we subsidize them, why would you be against them wanting a higher wage? if they can't meet living expenses than they qualify for gibs and we the tax payers pick up the slack for the corporations.
Robert King
This is correct but who the fuck wants to go outside in LA? I live here now and even the posh gentrified areas are full of shambling homeless drug addicts. The entire downtown area smells like piss and you can't do a good damn thing without somebody hitting you up for spare change or cigarettes. My mom is well off and lives in the suburbs a good deal away from all that shit, and the homeless are slowly creeping into that area too. Every time I go to visit her I take note of all the new tents on the sidewalks.
Not to mention the effective balkanization. Go in any direction long enough and you'll eventually end up in either a black neighborhood that's indistinguishable from Detroit where every flat surface has graffiti tags, or a Mexican colony where all the signs are in Spanish and little old ladies sell trinkets and second hand clothing off the sidewalk.
Almost nothing makes all that bullshit worth it. Especially not the "night life", which is just clubs blasting nigger music and charging $20 + tip for a drink.

user those policies actually worked in South America before they we're destabilized by the U.S. or infiltrated by the CIA. THE VERY SAME SHIT IS HAPPENING IN VENEZUELA RIGHT NOW.
Evan Young
nobody chooses to live in LA for the nightlife and street cafe scene, unless they are a college student or millionare's son. they go for economic opportunity because we as a nation have shoved almost our entire entertainment and tech industry into socal. our countries highest paying jobs are in socal which has created extreme cost of living and overcrowding aswell.
Benjamin Garcia
>But I can make 30/hr, $60,000 fucking up your fries and burger order? I'm quitting today and apply at McDonald's. And I'm going to drive Uber on the weekends and I'll be making 100k. but that's exactly how it should be. how it was for the boomer generation. a man working 7 days a week should be eligible to an above average living standard (house, two cars, one vacation a year, normal expenditure). Comp sci or other skilled labor should be payed like 100k starter for 40h work week.
Instead of being a crab in a boiling pot nigger you should join the cabbies, the plumbers, the wagies, etc., organize and in turn improve your own living standard.
if McD can pay people people 30/h, it will force everyone else to either increase their salaries or reduce people's workloads.

Considering that cost of living in LA that's just enough to not be homeless.

It wasn't US intervention that caused Maduro to nationalize their oil industry and give farm land to his cronies. Just like it wasn't US intervention that caused Mugabe to sieze farms from whites and redistribute them to people who didn't know how do farm.

Jonathan Ward
>if McD can pay people people 30/h, it will force everyone else to either increase their salaries or reduce people's workloads.
McD can't pay people 30 an hour without drastically increasing their prices and thereby torpedoing their entire business model of providing lots of really cheap food of (debatably) reasonable quality.
Brandon Reed
And who exactly pays for this insane income? Yeah, exactly, other people who need higher incomes as well to afford this shit. Or they go the "well then I just dont buy this shit anymore" and these idiots all end up in some gutter.
Aaron Murphy
Easy. They are so filled with chemicals from their diet of prolefeed that they are detrimental to growing plants.

Brandon Brooks
But that's exactly what socialism/communism is. The ruling political class just replaced he privilege of the former capitalist class.
McD has a net profit of over $5B. of its $17B expenses, less than 25% are payroll and employee benefits, of which less than 60% are actual wages, meaning that salaries for all McD employees are in the ballpark of $2.3B
in other words, even if they doubled everyone's salary it still wouldn't reach 50% of the profits. that % would be even lower if the salaries were only raised for lowest income employees
Alexander Bailey
>that % would be even lower if the salaries were only raised for lowest income employees You think a manager (or shift supervisor) would be alright with making the same amount as someone who isn't in such a position with the responsibilities that they have? Everyone will require a raise. I can't speak for McDonald's specifically, and the fast food experience I do have is over 2 decades old.. but managers and shift leaders don't make that much more than the regular employee. When I was made shift leader at Sonic I was given a $0.25/hr raise.

I work for 1€/h but get full welfare too 20h week so at the end minimum wage for half the work hours. 30 dollies is ridiculous and those faggots should be killed.

If people are so tired of being poor then why don’t they just go and buy more money? Maybe instead of spending so much of your trust fund payments on avocado toast you should put it in some stable stocks.
Or just use some of their inheritance to start a business or something. Or be disciplined enough to make sacrifices and do with things that they don’t really need. Just sell your summer home and use it to invest or pay off debts.
Easy solutions here, people. If you’ve ever worked at any kind of McJob then it’s because you’ve made poor life decisions.
The reason that low income people have notorious problems with their money isnt their income actually. In every single instance I personally witnessed, which are quite a few in my job, the people spend money on stupid shit/overpriced shit or just generally lived above their paygrade. Never ever have I heard someone blame their income and putting money aside for stuff they want. Every single one constantly bought things on credit and then didnt plan their income accordingly to encompass said credits.
>Be me >Hey um, could we pay out some overtime of mine cause I need money badly? >Yeah, I´m sure thats going to be okayed >checking personal file for how much overtime he has >Ooooookay, you actually have MINUS 10 hours on your file. >He, uhm, yeah, I think. >So, sorry but what overtime do you want to get paid out? You dont have any.... >B...b...but I ordered a new coach yesterday for 2000euros... >Sorry to hear that, I´d cancel that order and check the next before you buy something that you can actually afford it. >I wont cancel that order! I WANT that couch! >And you obviously cant afford it and there´s nothing I can do. >Fucking piss of a job this is, how the fuck am I supposed to afford this couch with the 1200euros I get each month?!? I need to live from something! >You know, in all honesty. I bought my last couch for 750euro and I´m totally comfy with it. Just dont buy overpriced shit. >Yeah. Thanks for nothing. Wanted to look for a new anyways. >Well, that´s fine with me too. Just as a remember, if you dont wörk off the overtime and it stays in the negative, it will be substracted from your last payout.
And yes, that is something that recently happened to me.
Jaxon Lee
The problem with this is >actually motivated workers show up The bottom is being filled with workers from the third world, dragging down wages
David Hall
>fight for raises or job hunt for higher salaries
not my job. it's the government's job to ensure everybody is educated, employed and properly paid.
Dominic Miller
If what I am now is deprived, I'd hate to see what it would be like if California implemented even more socialist policies. The thing you have to understand about living here, is that because of all the illegal immigrants and niggers who don't pay taxes but make use of the social programs, any socialist policy that they try to implement will be fundamentally unsustainable. For evidence, look at the LA School District's most recent teacher strike. We budget tons of money to schools, but it's never enough because there are thousands upon thousands of Mexican and South American kids that aren't planned for as well as the thousands of little Shaquandriuses and LeDashas whose single moms also pay next to nothing in taxes in addition to being on every other government assistance program you could name.
Socialism can only really work as National Socialism in relatively small countries with intelligent and low time preference citizens that pay their taxes (read:white).
Christian Myers
let's build a tendies franchise worldwide
Connor Hill
Do you enjoy damaging the economy and making everything more expensive by paying worthless people more?
Andrew Bell
the example was an exaggeration. obviously the wage increase should be spread out across the ranks and it certainly shouldn't be an outright 100% increase. that said, the argument that the companies can't afford this or that the only ways to increase people's wages is if you raise product prices is entirely false when a 100% wage increase across the board would still be contained within the profit margins.
companies CAN raise people's wages, they just don't want to. they spend big money to fund politicians, pundits and other *experts* to convince people that working an honest day's work is something to be ashamed of, ridiculed, etc., and that people working said jobs are lucky they get anything.
finally, if you think you're not paying more for these people, just remember what percentage of SNAP or other welfare benefit recipients are actually working Americans. instead of having companies lose a share of their profits you're more content with government taxing your own meager salaries to fund the even less fortunate people (this precludes all the non-working leeches, illegals, etc.)
Aiden Kelly
Remember when they were asking for 15 dollars?
Colton Williams
>be Lyft driver >have agreement with the company that I can work whenever I want, and choose to accept OR DECLINE any ride I want >lyft stops showing WHERE the person wants to get to until you show up to pick them up, many times leaving you driving for 30 minutes to get to someone who wanted a ride half a mile to the gas station >lyft has also surprised me with people who wanted a ride 3 hours away >lyft also decides to start adding people to your rider queue if it's busy with zero indication of what their rating is, as their way of pairing undesirable transgender homeless drug addicts that nobody would EVER pick up of they saw their rating >lyft also takes it upon themselves to switch your passenger, often without even telling you or giving you the option to decline, as you are in your way to the passenger you AGREED to pick up > declining these changes impacts your "reliability score" and can get you deactivated for life as a driver >lyft repeatedly undermines the agreement drivers have, get surprised when drivers band together and demand to be treated like either employees, or for Lyft to fuck off with this shit and honor the original agreements
Why would I care about having bigger numbers on every paycheck and every price tag? Raising minimum wage does not change the fact that people working minimum wage jobs are basically worthless and as plentiful as the air they suck through their teeth.
Adam Martin
Actually, you should fight to eliminate the minimum wage so the cost of living goes down.
Kevin Anderson
And what do those profits go into?

>burger flipper wages raised to 15/hour >no one else gets a raise >people who went to school now barely make more than a burger flipper but have a ton of debt anyway it's all so tiresome. >oy vey 20/hour is plenty, goy, what do you need 18/hour for? 16/hour is 4x what i made at my first job in 1970 >unions bad >just give your boss a firm handshake and ask for a raise, it's your fault you're poor, 20/hour is garbage, are you a woman or something? take your pills, grandpa.

They get roommates, 5-6 people in a 3bedroom apartment. Even techie scum are forced to do this because it's damn near impossible to afford an apartment by yourself.
Logan Bell
That would mean less new McDonalds franchises are made. And for example you won't see automation happening as soon because there's less money for it. And all that so tyrone can buy more drugs. Burgerflippers can go fuck themselves.
Also shouldn't these minimum wage niggers be incentivised to do more productive work?

>unstructured fun I don't understand what you mean
This has to be fake, uber is already on thin I've financially and with cities talking about regulating them the same as taxis which is going to destroy these jobs. Let's be real, if you're driving uber for a living you dont have job prospects. Lyft is in the same boat.
but I have to pay off my 2015 model car, and McDonald's doesn't pay enough ;_;

*unzips dick* Why don't you kiss my front hole, niggerfaggot redditor? Are you looking at equally worthless shit like compsci? Because real fields related to engineering and statistics have been pegged to minimum wage over the long term for all of history.
Juan Ortiz
>hurrdurr theres more things to do in the city
you mean more things to spend your money on in the city
Plenty to do in Wyoming and most of it involves getting off your fat ass and actually appreciating what the land provides, not going to some dumb ass trendy bar like some stupid nigger. Not all of us are so pathetic that we need to spend money to feel accepted.
Rent control is only part of the issue, the main problem is the NIMBY nonsense. The city council hardly approves any new construction, so the supply can never keep up with the demand. It forces residents to live like rats while boomers' property values skyrocket.
Bentley Hernandez
>Raising minimum wage does not change the fact that people working minimum wage jobs are basically worthless no people are worthless, but the continual need for new employees is a function of the modern economy, which is why they want immigrants, to take jobs you won't take because you know they are shit jobs, without the immigrants they would have to raise wages
Sebastian Cooper
you sound like a retard when you say that even the communists don't think socialism=communism socialism=social ownership/control of means of production, either through a state or some other collective body communism=stateless society of communal ownership of means of production. Think honeybees...
and yeah, being a billionaire and doing nothing beneficial with those resources is considered wrong and sinful by pretty much every moral theory out there. That is by definition Avarice.
Easton Perry
>the main problem is the NIMBY nonsense this, absolutely based user. i wouldn't mind the shit wages if rent was what it was 10-15 years ago, since wages are the same as 15-20 years ago... you can't depress wages AND drastically increase rent. fucking boomers in single family homes with 3/4 of the rooms filled with their boomer craphoards of beanie babies and shitty dishes no one wants to use won't let apartments get built. we also need smaller, no-frills apartments, all taht gets built is these luxury ones with jacked up prices. we need tokyo and korea tier apartment blocks people can actually fucking afford.
Ethan Hill
I rarely post, but I've driven Uber for a cumulative 1.5 years and it's probably a good solution for a lot of the NEETs here. I often recommend it to people who have no prospects as -SOMETHING TO DO- until they can get something else going.
I make 50k-60k/yr and they will pay for college, even though I only have one year left. It's not a career, but it's something to do that pays well for NOT REQUIRING A DEGREE. >B-but car maintenance, you're losing money lol 20% of it goes to gas. If you take care of a car it lasts a long time. My car cost $8,000, which I make in 2 months and lasts for years because I take care of it. People with problems usually don't take care of their things. I write everything off and pay next to nothing in taxes. (keep all receipts) >but I don't have a car You can lease a car from Uber which you can use as your personal car as well. I talked to a guy who does this and we make the same amount of money. The only difference is he doesn't own his car, but he's still making money >something something jews something something wage slave something something Look, I'm just telling you something you can do without a degree to make decent money to start your life off. >Uber protests and whatnot I hear people are protesting, but I never researched it, because I don't care. I just came back to Uber full time after a year break and I make the same amount of money utilizing the same strategies. The only thing Uber needs to do, which I've written on every personal review since I started is charge more for wait time in traffic. I drove a cab for 2 months when I came back from the Navy, just as something to do, and cab drivers make $27/hr on TIME ALONE in traffic. Uber makes cents per minute. >bonus point You can make even more money by driving Uber and Lyft at the same time, but I just use Uber because I'm trying to hit 3k rides so they'll pay for my school. 3k rides can be done in 6 months of full time working.
