Unironically, divorce law is anti-feminist.
It promotes the idea that women are incapable of supporting themselves. Kids should stay with the parent most capable of providing for them, just like back in the day.

Needless to say that marriage by the common citizenry was quite different as it was far less pronounced as a means to acquire property of the time and more based on sentiment and on ceremony (for a lack of better and more encompassing terms). Given women's suffrage women of the 20th century women could acquire their own property and earn their own income, notwithstanding dowries, without being married. The original feminists may have meant well to spare many women from being forced to marry (ie arranged marriages) and from the financial distress of divorce. Later, it would appear that divorce had become a commodity to avaricious law firms. Still, women of pop culture reading into bourgie media perceive marriage as strictly transactional and occupational. Divorce would seem to appear to women of pop culture as a return to being single and claim an nonreciprocal stake in the property and income of the male meanwhile negotiating rights of visiting their children, sometimes banning them from that.

Some women, particularly women of pop culture, strongly perceive marriage as a commercial relationship rather than sentimental and ceremonial. Pro divorce legislation could insidiously favour avaricious law firms and women that would like access to the property and income as a form of retirement, sadly. The more adjusted women tend to perceive divorce as an escape and the property transfer and income payments as compensation for severe circumstances.
