- The narrator is explicitly the Genie.
- Jafar meets Aladdin when Aladdin breaks into the royal castle to return Jasmine's mother's bracelet that she had lost.
- Jafar never masquerades as an old man. Instead he bribes Aladdin with enough money to impress Jasmine.
- Jafar was a street urchin like Aladdin and was jailed in another country for stealing. Now he's manipulating the Sultan to declare war on that country.
- The Sultan is keen on marrying Jasmine to a dim-witted prince from a Norway-esque country to cement a military alliance.
- It's also implied Jafar killed Jasmine's mother to ingrain himself to the Sultan.
- Iago can only mimic like a real parrot. His natural response are slightly off.
- Jasmine feels she should be given the title of Sultan but the Sultan is reluctant since "it has never been done" and Jafar insists "women should be seen, not heard" (setting up Jasmine's new power ballad "Speechless").
- You have to rub the lamp while making the wish, so Aladdin has Abu rub the lamp when he wishes to escape the Cave of Wonders, so technically the Genie granted Abu a wish.
- Nobody recognizes Prince Ali as Aladdin because the wish warps perception, but it weakens over time.
- The Genie falls in love with Jasmine's handmaiden Dalia.
- Jafar only becomes a sorcerer after he wishes for it. He also turns Iago into a giant instead of turning himself into a snake.
- Jafar threatens Dalia and the Sultan to force Jasmine to marry him.
- Throughout the movie Jafar is triggered by people saying he's only second best at something. Aladdin tells him this in regards to the Genie, so he wishes to become the most powerful being in existance. The Genie exploits the vagueness of that wish and turns Jafar into a Genie himself, binding him to the lamp.
- The sultan decides "fuck patriarchy" and makes Jasmine the new Sultana, with Aladdin as her husband.
- It turns out the whole movie was the Genie telling the story to his and Dalia's children.

Compare the tedious girlpower cliches in the new movie with how Jasmine was originally conceived. This is a song cut from the original Aladdin, you'll find it much more honest and true to life than the feminist trope du jour
