When you use the state to get more pay than you would normally get from the free market, you don't have a job. You are then a charity case pretending to have a job.

Same with taxes, theoretically having no taxes at all would be better for businesses in the same way having zero minimum wage would be better for workers, reality is both moderate taxes and moderate minimum wage are health economically.

my rent is $1500 a month. i work a $15 an hour job 40 days a week. after taxes, i take home barely $200 a week.

But forcing every company to simultaneously pay their workers $15 an hour would drastically boost the economy. If only one company pays their employees $15 an hour they know they will spend that money elsewhere, but if EVERY other company also pays that amount then they will have more customers as well.
