He met with dozens of people a day, and many of these meetings had minutes kept of when and where the meeting took place. Falsely accusing him was made difficult by this. Also, he was followed everywhere by a variety of law enforcement (FBI, IRS, State Police, County Sheriffs, local police) and private chartered groups like the various White Citizen's Committees, KKK, etc. Also uncharted groups like The Thin White Line & The White Dahlia' etc. This made faking the who, what, where, when of a tape difficult, even if it passed a technical inspection.
